Yay! Talk about a good feeling. Someone saw one of my pictures, and bought an enlargment of it (a 24"x9" enlargement). So, here is the first (and hopefuly not the last) picture I have ever sold!

It was taken formation flying the summer before last. I was just playing with some of the old pics the other day, and tried this one in B&W with some cropping. Enjoy! :)
 
Hey, I saw this on dpreview. Congrats. How much did it cost you to print, and how much did you sell it for?

Yup, I posted it there too.. (guess I am too excited.. ;) )

The printing cost was $24.99 (+$5.00 S&H), but I got two prints from that. I sold it for $70.00, so I ended up making $40.00... probably a little low, but I being my first print and all..

Outr of curiosity what did you get it printed on? (Media and printer type)

J-Mag- I went with mpix's true black and white system. It is a silver emulsion system: http://www.mpix.com/trueblackandwhite.aspx . I haven't printed this format before, and am quite excited to get the prints (Tomorrow). I have heard very good things about it though.

Hmm... Thanks for the link, but what would you do if you wanted to go color?
 
I have had them do several prints for me in with their metallic paper. I like it a lot, it has kind of a pearlescence finish (but I was looking for a true matte finish for these prints, thus why I went with the true B&W).

That is an awesome photograph. I don't think it would give the same feeling if it were in color. Great job and good luck with selling more prints.
 
fantastic - the B&W really puts the planes back in their time they existed so to speak, sets the period well.
