First of all, I'd like to thank you all in this forum to provide so much information about computer hardware. I've been lurking for a long time and finally I'm able to afford a decent update in the near future.

My choice of configuration would be like this:
ASUS A8N SLI-Premium + AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2*1G PC3200 mem
Leadtek 7800GTX 256MB
Antec Truepower 550W ver.2

At first my choice for LCD would go to BenQ FP937s+ which has a 19'' 8ms panel. But after reading the posts I thought why not have a larger LCD to put the video card in full use. Also, there is an offer from Dell that I could buy the 2405 at S$1542 which is roughly a little over US$900. That makes it more cost effective than the 2105 at S$1364.

I'm so excited and hope this LCD won't let me down as it performs so well with so many people in the forum.

I will mainly play FPS games and Flight Simulation games with this new setup. Am I making the right decision choosing this model? Will I be disappointed with this 12ms panel?
 
I think you made a good decision. I am waiting for it to go on sale at or around $779 again. Good luck with yours.

hehe... will sure put that babe into my sig when I have my rig complete. Right now a 2405 + a 6-year old laptop seems :eek:
 
The system I just ordered will be similar to yours. Right now my 6800GT + 2.5ghz Barton are sluggish in a lot of games even scaled down to 1680x1050.

Welcome to the club man! I just got my second replacment monitor and it is PUUUURE perfection! Not a single hit of backlight and not one dead pixel. Perfection...... I wanna make sweet love to it! :D

hehe... Drooling over ur pics.... ain't that screen beautiful!!! I'm sure the extra field of view will help a lot in gameplay! However, I have one question about the screen tho. In the screenshots from HL2, it seems that 2405 is much brighter than the L90D+. It is more like a "over-exposed" effect on the walls and floors. Will i be able to tweak the brightness down to the same level as L90D+ on 2405?

The L90+ plus has a contrast ratio of 800:1 while the 2405 has 1000:1 hence it was much brighter though the camera makes it stand out alot more then it does in real life.

Damn, here in Canada the cheapest I can find one for is $1350 (about $1126 USD). Sometimes I hate living here. If I could get one for under a grand I'd probably go for it.
 
Yeah....I am kind of bummed that I missed that deal by less than one week. Right now the 2005fpw is on sale for 30% off. Well there are coupons flying around to make it 30% off. The only thing I can think of is maybe Dell is waiting for the upcoming holiday to go 30-35% off on the 2405fpw. Until then I wait..............
 
Where do you see the 2005FPW for sale 30% off?!?!?!?! Please tell me so I can buy it! I only see it for $499 + tax and shipping.

Whoa. Yeah, I wouldn't be feeling a hole, but maybe a smoking crater :D But seriously, once it's delivered and you're looking at it on your desk, you'll start feeling better. Congrats by the way! I'm looking at this 21" CRT and I'm amazed at how a 24" LCD would look!

I wondered myself WTF I did charging $800 for a freaking LCD monitor from Dell. But man.....I'll tell you what, as soon as I saw that thing come outa that box and held it in front of me, I coudln't give a shit less of the card interest, its mine....ALL MINE!!!!! :D :D

Mine wasn't gonna ship till farking August 29th and I ordered it on the 12th! Needless to say, I wasn't gonna wait that farking long. I called up Dell and complained how long it was gonna take and they expedited my order from factory and gave me overnight shipping :D.

Call up small Business * NOT HOME* line and plead a BS story about how your a small home based company and want to try, test, or sell these monitors. Basically, bullshit and haggle your way through the salemen to get a lower price. It WILL NOT be easy, I had to go through 4 dell salesmen before I got a nice southern lady who basically fell in love with me and gave me the great deal. She even gave me her direct phone number.

Ok, my turn! I succumbed to the $899 deal and placed my order this morning. I tried to hold out for better deals down the road, but the lust was just too great!

Of course, I have a Sept 13 expected ship date, so that sucks... :rolleyes:

Or you can do what I did, I ordered my Aug 12 and wasn't gonna be here till Sept 5, I called, bitched about how long it was taking and they expetided my order from the factor to next day air :D
 
:) I've been considering that. I've been sick for the last two days, very little energy, so I'm debating if I have the energy to get good and righteous!
 
Ah, the 2405 is great. Yes, once it is sitting in front of you and everything is working as it should (no dead pixels etc..), you will forget all your financial troubles, until the credit card companies start calling you. Anyways, you will love it more when you are playing games in 1920x1200 resolution....Farcry and half-life 2 looks really really nice on those. I am even contemplating getting a second for xmas.

As for shipping, I got mine about 1 week before the estimated ship date. I have bought a few things from dell (laptops and LCD) and each time, they have been a few days early. I think they just give you those dates as a precaution.

Have fun with your LCD, all those getting one...You will never ever go back. I look at some of the 17in and 19in LCDs and I wondered how I lived with those...
