I had previously ordered an AMD64 3200 rig, but that was cancelled due to unfortunate delays with my bank.

So, since I had more time to research and compare I finally ordered the following rig (money in hand, so no problems this time:) )

Antec Sonata
Abit NF7-S v2
2500 Barton
Corsair Value Select dual channel kit 1 gig pc3200
Sapphire 9800pro 128mb/256bit
80 gb WD800JB
Alps 3.5 Floppy-Black
Lite on CD-RW-Black
Lite on DVD-Rom-Black
Logitech Z640 5.1 speakers
Logitech Cordless MX Duo
Viewsonic 19" P95F+B
Arctic Silver 5

$1,246.47 s/h included

Going to use the stock heatsink/fan for now and run it at 200*11.

I don't have a credit card so the check is in the mail.

Anyone here ever ordered parts with a check/MO? I'm kind of curious as to how long of a delay this may add to my order.

Ah, almost forgot, I know some of you will say "why drop to a 2500 Barton from a 64 rig...?"..the AMD64 3200 rig included a cheaper sound system, low grade monitor, cheap logitech mouse/kb combo and a 9600xt vid card. So I decided to go for high quality in these areas and upgrade the mb/cpu later when they're more mainstream and wallet friendly.

Anyway, thanks to all the people here for helping me make informed decisions-I really owe you guys.:D

That's what I'm talkin about. The 2500+ is the way to go. When o/c'd to 3200+, it beats out some of the best Pen.4's! A64 to 2500+? That is fine. As long as you got nice moniter, video card, etc (that is the stuff you will probably keep for many years)... You probably won't even keep your CPU/mobo for over 2 years!

Good luck!

2500+ is a great CPU. I have been running mine for months at 2.3ghz on 24/7. I am now building a shuttle 2500+ right now for LAN parties. Can't beat the price/performance.

yeah if you don't have allot of money to burn 2500+ is still a nice setup.

Only two things I would have changed - mobo and processor.

The processor to get right now is the 2500+ mobile because it overclocks quite a bit better than the regular 2500+. The motherboard you should have gotten, if you plan on overclocking is the DFI Ultra Infinity. They crush all other boards, NF7 included, in overclocking. And I have an NF7-S in my system...

One of my friends got a DFI and my 2500+ can do 100MHz more in his rig. 207x11 in my rig, 216x11 in his:mad:

I order stuff with a money order at newegg all the time. Works perfect, not as fast as credit card but i have no problems doing it/

Actually, the new MX Duo includes the MX700, and in every review I have read it has been judged to be perfectly comparable to most corded mice and from both these reviews and personal experience I can say there is absolutely no lag with this mouse. Lilmojo, that is a nice looking system! I think you made a great choice going from the AMD64 to the 2500. That is a huge price difference, and you will probably never even notice the difference. I have to say I am pretty jealous of that system!
