Well it better be for the money...haha...I cant wait to throw in Call of duty 4, and world in conflict at max settings...treated myself last year to a 24 inch flat screen so should look smoking...supposedly they are throwing in a bunch of free games as well.. will let ya know what they end up givin me...

let me ask you this, are you doing SLI??? also why that heatsink... honestly you should have paid more for a better one.. but that's just my opinion. Also I noticed your ram speed... any reason you didnt go with the DDR3 1333??

Well a lot of it was based on the price... im not overclocking it since some of the reviews ive read about the 780i boards and their failures were a result of OC'n...so the 790i board may end up with the same problem... i wont have a prob with performance with the stuff i got so will wait and see what happens with its overclocking ability later on... same with the heatsink...should be fine with what they had for the base heatsink since im not going to be overclocking... the memory was like another $320 just to go from 4x1gig to 2x2gig... and the price to get the 1333mhz mem was like 700+....i think it was OCZ brand... so i decided to stay with the corsair slower speed...

The heatsink is actually quite good if you're going with stock speeds. I think it was a good choice.
 
That heatsink is fine, especially at stock speeds.

It's a good system you have there but what the hell is this...

i have always wondered about ordering a big HSF from AVA

i would be a little nervous shipping with something like the TRUE or Tuniq hanging off the motherboard...does anyone have any experience with AVA regarding this?

I was wondering if anyone was going to say anything about that...lol...there was no option on the configurator to omit a 3.5" drive...so who knows, i may be able to find some of my old floppies filled with email addies of ppl i aint spoken with in years...though more than likely they are all packed away along with my millions of baseball cards and id never find em anyway...haha...

I never thought about that myself... anyone have any idea on how a big heatsink would impact on shipping a computer with regards to damage to the board/cpu/etc? Good question..

You know what else is quite good at stock speeds? The stock HSF. I think it was a waste of money. And who gets an extreme processor, but doesn't OC?
 
bah i dont need overclocking for awhile yet... once the drivers and so on are set for the new board i will screw around with overclocking...we all know how the first couple driver releases end up being... its more of a future proofed purchase than anything else...

Yup, the stock HSF is good at stock, but the Pro 7 is better...at stock. :)

haha... im sure you wouldnt have to take long in guessing... im a huge military history buff.. in particular the eastern front in WW2...was also my old BF1942 name back in the day...
 
Did you get any special financing on that?? I'd be all over it if I didn't have to pay interest for 18+ months.
 
That Arctic Freezer Pro 7 is probably the best HSF under $40 going.. (Of Course, Im a bit biased).. The ability to point it so that the hot air goes right out of the back of the case is great.

With a $4K budget I might have splurged a bit more on something exotic.

it's not really necessary if ur not OCing like he said he isn't, plus water cooling can turn into a nightmare if it's not done right
 
Awesome rig dude. But why go for the Creative XtremeAudio sound card? I've had nothing but awful experiences with that card, and, given the number of extremely angry posts on Creative's website about it, seems I'm not alone. Also, that card is not true X-Fi -- it's software based garbage.

If you hadn't ordered it already I'd suggest an Auzentech Prelude or Xplosion, Creative XtremeGamer or Fatal1ty. Heck, even an Audigy SE is better than the XtremeAudio. Major rip-off card from Creative.

Edit: Check out the XtremeAudio's ratings on Newegg -- that tells the story :(

Or go with the motherboard's sound. That is what AVADirect and every other place told me to do. I did and i'm glad I did, the motherboard sound on my system works quite nicely.
