Just ordered me up a X800XT from zipzoomfly for 469.99 with free 2 day shipping. This should be a nice improvement over my 9800PRO. At then end of the month I will be ordering a A64 setup :D
 
I went from a 9800 to x800xt pe and more than doubled my score in 3dmark03...playing everything in 16x12 is awesome...

Yeah a friend of mine is getting his XT very soon.

He thought he had a X800 XT but it was really a 9800 XT! He is not extremely bright. ;)
 
Getting either a 6800U or an X800XT are both great upgrades for BF2. Nice job!
 
FedEx Showed up at noon, card installed by noon-15. Running at X800XT-PE speeds with no problems on stock cooling.

I think I need to go change my pants now
 
Its amazing they charge more so you can say you have PE, when you can achieve the speeds on stock cooling with an xt. Has me torn between a xt and a vivo ( flash it )
 
I just ordered my XT off Monarch Computer for $460 with free 5-7 day shipping about 20 minutes ago. It feels good to be coming back to ATI. I don't really like my 6800Ultra.
 
I have an X850XT PE pci express and I preffer it A LOT over the Ultra. Runs so Much smoother...
 
i just got a X800XTPE to replace my 98pro and ill sell it to you for a good price. the 98 pro is only like a year old, had to replace a busted 97 pro

I've got an XT PE that is out for RMA. I bought the Ultra to hold me over. I was unimpressed with stock perfromance, so I flahsed it to UEE. I'm STILL unimpressed. It's faster in #dmark03 than my XT PE was, but I think the XT PE games better. I also like being able to run 6xAA.
 
ATi in my opinion handles AA and AF so well that in the end that is what makes ATi the faster of the two. nVidia is faster without AA and AF turned on; at least that is generally what I see from the benchies. I know I can't go without AA and AF so that's why I went with the X800 XT. Love the card.
 
I am looking to upgrade my ATI 8500 to an x800xt. I have an AMD 1.4 GHZ Thunderbird CPU with 768 Mbytes of ram. Is this board a good match or would I be wasteing my money because I dont have enough cpu power. If I would be wasteing my money, what video card would be a better match for my system.

Hmm... you need more ram and a faster CPU if you're going to get an X800 series card.

A 9800 pro is all you'll need with your setup, and even then you might see benefits from upgrading your CPU and ram

I would have to get another motherboard, then CPU, then more ram. I cant get into that money "right now". Is it that the card wouldnt work well with the system, or I would get the same results with a 9800 as I would with the x800.
 
The 9800 pro is a good choice for your system because you don't have enough CPU power to take advantage of an x800.

An x800 series card is a waste of money unless you plan to upgrade your motherboard/cpu/ram soon.

Thanks for the info! Not to be a pain in the neck but it will work fine in my system. Right!
I may upgrade my system in around 6 months from now and at least I will have the Graphic card taken care of.

in six months there will be faster cards at the same price point, if i were you i would get a 9800 or a 9700 for ~150 used and then sell it when you upgrade and get the current gen card at that time. you also have to think about how in 6 months PCIe will be much more common on consumer level boards and your x800xt might not work on the board that you really want

I'm trading my BFG 6800 GT 256Mb OC + an Xbox to a forum member for his Gigabyte X800XT. I love my 6800GT, but I wanna try ATi's high end stuff. I dont really "stick" to hardware. The longest I kept a full system was....maybe....5 months :)

It has 1.6ns Samsung ram, I should be able to OC to PE levels correct? Also, do any of u guys flash your cards to PE ?

I currently decided that ATI was the vid card for me after I read up on problems that people were having with my motherboard and the 6800GT anyhow I havent been up to date on ATI latley but I do know I want to stay in $400USD range, I found this on newegg
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800XT seems to be good, and gets good reveiws. Would you recommend this or another.Note: has to be really close to $400USD and AGP slot. Thanks guys im shure you will help me more then those 6800GT guys :rolleyes: :p

There really are no problems with the 6800GT, its mostly caused by the user.
 
really no problems? what do you mean user? like if i order a 6800GT and keep it at stock settings without overclocking I wont experince the probs like these people had

If you dont OC, you wont have problems. The NV40 line does have some issues w/ the NF3 chipset though, but thats only if you OC.

Im buying one also bestbuy has them for 379.99 on sale but i checked out and they charge tax it was like $407 and change whats up with that!! thats why you order stuff off the internet so you dont have to deal with tax, you pay shipping instead. anyhow maybe ebay will suite my fancy :) Thanks, all of you thanks so much!!!

You'll love it, its a great card. Runs pretty much anything @ 1600x1200 w/ AA at stock speeds.

Would I gain anything by flashing it? What I plan to do is see how far I can OC it, and if I hit PE speeds, i'm gonna flash it, just for bragging rights. BTW, whats the X850XT clocked at? Also, does the ATI Silencer 4 cool the memory?
 
Just ordered an X800 XT VIVO as well! Purchased from Monarch Computers for $460. This is a HUGE step up from my ATI Radeon 8500 64MB video card. I'm excited to get it and see what all the "fuss" is about! ;)
 
That 2.8GHz processor may hol you back a bit, son. I would suggest OCing it to around 3.4GHz and see if that makes a difference.
 
I am wondering if I should upgrade for BF2, as I have been drooling over the gameplay movies for a while now , and it is on my get list the day it comes out.

I have the following:

AMD 3000+ Barton
2x512MB PC3200 Crucial (dual channel)
Sapphire 9800pro AGP

I wonder if a simple upgrade of the Video Card will do? I don't really want to change mobos. What is the best AGP card available, and will another come out 1-2 months before/after BF2? Plus, I am an ATI guy, so I would like to stay with them.

I'd buy a new CPU/MB/Videocard....or atleast a new CPU. The athlon XPs aren't very fast...
