I'm excited, although I have not ordered all the parts I need, at least I've taken the 1st step towards getting my new system. I need a mobo, ram and video card now. I've got the case, PSU, monitor, CD/DVD drives and keyboard/mouse.

I've leaning towards the nVidia 7950, but I'm open to suggestions. I think I'll get the same board that Kyle is running. I believe (if I'm not mistaken) he is running the Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6. I'd like that to drop below $200.00 or at least get a good deal on it. But we'll see.

What ram you guys think I should go with? Any recommendations?

I bought the E6300 from ClubIT and got it for $188.00 with free shipping.

I actually agree... with 6300 you need to spend a fortune on RAM to OC, 6400 is a safer choice. You might get lucky, though.

Hmm I'm re-reading the thread nothing in here about Overclocking, what ram for overclocing etc....

Anyways CONGRATS on your purchase! I'm going to be building mine soon too. As far as your question the 7950 is a great card. I think I may be leaning towards the new ATI X1950XTX. I believe that is due out on Sept 14th. You may want to look into that. HardOCP has a nice review on their front page. It's close to pereformance of the 7950.

congrats on your 6300, if i'm lucky, my order on the 6400 should be getting filled later this week (Sometimes i hate how slow fedex is)

fun times in the near future, hope you like it!

Dont listen to them man, they are just jealous.

Congrats. You should look at the Abit P5B deluxe, people are getting great overclocks with that board also. Take a look at the patriot ram, it is cheap and alot of floks are overclocking the crap out of it. My corsair pc6400 is doing good at ddr900 @ 5-5-5-18.

I too am going the E6300 route vs. a E6400. Based on the OC's I've seen here, I didn't see the need to drop the extra $$$ on the 6400. Gotta love the thread crappers around here these days... (To the TC'ers) If you got a 6400, then good for you.

I'm looking forward to this chip. The overclocks have been great on it thus far. Should O/C like a pro. Time will tell.

I highly disagree. Get the Patriot 667 memory. It is AMAZING for overclocking, at least on the gigabyte DS3 mobo. I'm currently running my e6300 at 3.25ghz with that ram with virtually no voltage increases (so the ram is running at approx. 960). The best part is, the ram is only 160 bucks with the 20 dollar rebate. Just get a different heatsink/fan rather than the retail one for the cpu, it'll help keep it cooler (I suggest the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler, its only 25 bucks and comes with a fan included).

Trust me, you won't be dissapointed with the patriot ram, though. Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220095

You won't be dissapointed with an e6300 setup.

I just ordered the e6300 too. Even if I don't overclock it will be faster than my 2800+ by a long shot.

I got a full system upgrade for 350 bucks. Quite the deal.

Wow that ram is fucking cheap. Am I reading that correct? 2 gigs for 160.00?
