Just placed an order for my new computer - the cpu.

Mobo:
Asus A8N Sli Deluxe

Vid Card:
Ati X850xt pe (OEM/ does anyone know were to download drivers?)

Ram:
Geil Ultra X (2x512)

Hard drives:
2x Seagate Baraccuda SATA 160gb

PSU:
Antec 480W NEO power

Now all I need is a cpu.
Hmmm 3200+ or 3500+ ????

What? Just click on "Drivers and Software" then follow the onscreen instructions. It couldn't be easier.

Not to sound elitest or anything, but questions like this scare me.. Makes me wonder if you have any clue about even how to use a computer.

Lets see.

right at the top, it says "Drivers and Software"
Then you get a big ass screen in the middle that asks you your operating system
Oh.. yeah, that's hard
You click on Say... "Windows XP"
then on "Graphic Driver" (or do you think ti's a mobile card?)
Then you click on "Radeon"
and hit the red "GO" button
Now.. right in front of you use a "DOWNLOAD" Link

But, I mean, if it's that complex.. well, jeesh

nice system poach, wish I could afford a new processor--AMD 64 4000+---would be nice.
Get yourself an ATI silencer for the the card. The best $30 you'll spend.

and don't worry about questions...somebody's always nice enough to answer them.

You fill find that I will not be asking 20 "noobi" questions, I just asked about were to find the drivers because I did not see the Drivers & Software link on the Ati site (and sorry for the inconvenience it has caused you to post a direct link).

If I do happen to ask a question about something, it will more than likely be about setting up a Raid0 array with SATA drives on an Asus A8N because I have read that people are having genuine problems doing that (and besides, a forum is set up so that people can ask question and receive answers)

For the people who noticed, "Yes" I did double post not that it matters, my internet disconnected when I pressed the Submit button, and I wasn't sure if it went through or not so I went back and submitted again. I have also posted in the wrong forum because my main question was about getting an A64 3200+ or A64 3500+.

I apologize for how this thread has turned out, but in time I think you will come to forgive me.
 
If you plan to overclock, 3200+ .90nm (Winchester). Otherwise 3500+ (Newcastle or Winchester) if you have the money.
 
I have a question for you and maybe everyone else:

If you're getting a board with SLi, then why would you get an ATI card? I thought only NVidia's were compatible with SLi, not ATI.

Thats correct. It doesn't make any sense for him to get the ASUS SLI board but if he wants a SLI board so he can run one ATI card then thats his choise :).
 
That is true.
The reason I got the sli deluxe modle is because it was the only one available at the time. It is the same as the non sli deluxe just with a second pci-e 16x slot.
 
Oh, alright. I guess that makes sense if you want to get an Sli setup 2 yrs down the road when there are much better video cards out but whatever.
 
Ati is planning to have the own version on "sli" on an up and coming via chipset due later this year (probably wont support sli using the current cards though).

ATi is coming up with their own motherboard chipset too, which should have an SLI-type-thing. VIA's will be card independent, I believe (well, except for like mixing brands . . that'd be a nightmare).
