Just installed a new HDD..

And for some reason i cant find any evidence of where i can create new space or format the drive or find the unallocated memory... the computer recognizes the device is there, and the BIOS recognizes it and even its size... so whats goin on, why cant i find some way to actually set it up for use?

go into control panel, click administrative tools, then goto computer management (for vista anyway), then goto disk management on the left.

for XP if there isnt a computer management (i thnk there is but not sure), then go straight to disk management


once you are in the disk manager, you can see your new disk and reformat it
