on my laptop SMP client it got to 23%

then it said long 1-4 interactions, cannot continue further going to send back what have done. then EARLY UNIT END

then it got and started a new WU?

is that normal?
 
Yes, you just got a bad WU.
We all get them from time to time.

The good news is the WU got sent back.
Usually, that WU will go to someone else and if it fails for them, Stanford will pull that defective WU.

It tends to happen when the hardware (CPU, GPU) is running too hot, such as overclocking beyond the cooling capacity of the system. Since this is a laptop, it's a little more difficult to determine the cause but likely a bad WU as Evil mentioned. Stanford might release a bad run of WUs from time to time. I had a spate of bad WUs (P2665) that were producing errors on several systems over a week ago. What's the processor on your laptop anyway?

Definitely, I have no doubt the lack of circulation was responsible. Laptops in general can't provide the same level of cooling as desktops for obvious reasons and if you're going to fold for long periods on one, maximum cooling is an absolute must.

It keeps my Vostro 1500 at 42C full load on the CPU (Core 2 Duo T5270 @ 1.4Ghz)

It is a great looking product that really works.
The notebook actually feels cold while on this thing.
Actually makes it easier to use the laptop as well and I am unable to hear it running.

I consider it 100% worth the investment.

 
it happened again, both times at 23%, my T9400 runs at 60C , this is a very cool laptop
 
It must be a bad WU then. When an EUE occurs, Stanford will sometimes reassign the WU to the same client. You may have received the WU back and it crashed at the same point.

 
Did it send the EUE back in or did it just delete it ?
Check your log file on this.
If it was deleted then you will get the exact same work-unit, same protien (Run, Gen, Clone ) numbers, two more times before you get a new one.
If its the exact same work-unit, expect it to fail at the same point.

Also if it did get deleted, look in the work folder for a stray results file.
If it is there then you can use qfix.exe to repair the queue.dat file so you can send it in for partial points.

Also you can check Here if its a known bad work-unit.
