Ok, So I've had my Athlon 64 3200+ for a little bit now with the Abit Kv8 Pro ver 1.1 board
I just purchased some Corsair PC4000 512 sticks XMS of course. Now, here's my actual question.

Do I need to set it in the bios from 200 to 250 to take advantage of this,,, and if i do that I imagine I would have to lower my multiplier then to get the correct clock and then raise and lower the multiplier from there to do any over clocking... am I correct in thinking this. Or by having it set to "Detect from SPD" is it already set.

It is currently set Detect from SPD. and is being detected at DDR400 aka PC3200. Do I need to kick it up myself?

Ok,,, first attempt didn't work so hot.

Last night when I got home I bumped the FSB from 204(default) to 250 and dropped the multiplier down to 9x. Machine would post but as soon as it attempted to load windows a blue screen would flash for a split second and then reboot.

:(

So I then messed around a little bit more and just set it to about 220 and multiplier at 10x

ok,,, this time it boots into windows. As soon as I try and load anything like 3dmark01 03 or 05 it freezes....

Tried a few other things and All I can get it to do when overclocked is boot windows. Weird thing is, Windows runs great, doesn't lock up at all in windows. Only when trying to load games or any 3d style bench mark.

Could it be that the AGP/PCI bus isn't locked or somthing. I do have the latest 16 bios for my Abit KV8 Pro ver. 1.1 which is supposed to work with the lock. The bios even states that it is locked. How frustrating so far.

Anyone have any suggestions as to try and figure out whats going on, or if im doing somthing wrong?

i've never OC'd before but im guessing maybe voltage settings?

Almost sounds like AGP/PCI bus isn't locked. I would set back up to the BIOS settings you had and try gradual increases in FSB and lower your CPU multi as any instability arises. Also, you may be having memory slot issues. Try it with just one stick plugged in.
