Just got DSL but need some help

I just got earthlink DSL and it rocks, I get 157Kb down load speed but the problem is that some web pages load slow or not at all. Also some down load links that should open another page to start the down load dont open. and even if I try to right click on the link it does not always work, I have all internet settings set to lowest settings, like accept all cookies. It comes with a pop up blocker, and even with it turned off I still have the same problem. I have tried diff browsers but it does not seem to help.

Any Ideas?????
 
You could just be accessing a bunch of slow servers. It seems to have nothing to do with your end with those kinds of downstream speeds.
 
I dont know, my friend has DSL (not earthlink) and he does not have the slow problem like I do. when I only had 56k, some times I would go over to his house and use his dsl and down load stuff to my computer and I never had any thing like this happen.

could it be some of the software that is installed on the earthlink disk, like the anti-pop up software??

it is just strange, some of the web sights that I go to are fast at loading but when I go to down load it does not let me.

you could try a download manager such as flashget...
