Don't know how to answer this, no help line for chaintech... Chaintech apparantely only has one configuration you can enter... Either for 5.1 speakers, 7.1 speakers, stereo speakers, mono speakers, or quadophonic speakers...

Is this the same for all audio cards?

And most importantly... What do I enter? It says that I enter 7.1 speakers... However, I got this for high quality 2.1 sound, since I have Logitech Z-2300's...

It's kinda obvious I enter stereo speakers, but it does say to enter 7.1 speakers, so I wanted to ask before I did anything foolish.

What do you think?

And what the heck is quad speakers? 4.1?

you need to dowmload the latest drivers from ViaArena.com, they are better (If you already havent)
Via Arena driver downloads

If you are using a 2.1 system and select the highest sound quality, it sends thru the 7.1 rear jack (wolfson DAC)

So then, I guess I do select 7.1, as it would partially play would 7.1 (to a certain extent)?

If I want to play from the highest quality (Which I do)...?

BTW, how do you play games on this... The Normal way, right? Line in?

BTW, one final thing to ask: I don't install the first driver first, right? I just download the updated drivers and install them instead, right? It would seem useless to do it the other way.

Sorry, I'm not too familiar with audio cards, and I'm the type who likes to be thorough.

just install the new drivers by themselves. and select the High Sample Output. Of course this all depends on what actually you are going to do. Are you lstening to music, or playing games. the chaintech is not a good game soundcard IMHO (yes i do own one, but do not use it). if your going to play games, just select 2.1. The ViaArena site has a setup guide, so it would probably be a good idea for you to read it.

it doesn't partially play 7.1, it just outputs/resamples the sound to 2.1 thru the DAC, if you select the high quality sound output. depending on your speakers it will sound pretty good.

I like movie and music sound more then gaming sound, but can you be more specific on why its not a good gaming card?

I was going to use it for everything, but esp. music and gaming.

One final question: Should I bother at all with Wincinema, or should I just ingore the cd?

What is a good dvd movie player?
