Well Nexus is getting 22.6k ppd
/sigh
I know what you mean. I just wish Stanford assigned a greater credit to these new WUs seeing how unstable and risky they are. It is counterproductive to the project overall if people see a disincentive to run them. At least with the same or more creidt of A2 -bigadvs, more people would work through these issues until Stanford resolved them.I've moved both my rigs to SMP A3. I've lost too many 2684's and am now gun shy. I'd rather take a hit on PpD and be stable than lose a 3 day long WU after 2.5 days![]()

I now have 2x2684s crunching away. If they fail, I'm going to 100% switch all boxes to WinSMP and hope for the best.
This is why I never asked to be a beta tester![]()
Well I had to close the 1st one, I control+C'd the VM then powered it off. Did my business (was cloning HD partitions to eliminate my smallest drive)....load up the VM, start it,...FLUSH.
I was about to shut it down for good but it grabbed an A2 so it has earned a 'temporary reprieve'.![]()
I still haven't lost any of these (and this makes me think unstable OC are the cause of the WU flipping out).
I like them because they only upload every 4 days or so....
The issue witht eh lower ppd, and it seems better ppd with a mid size A3 WU on windows I may switch.
I'm on the fence.
You're right, it's the WUs that are unstable. Whenever a new run of WUs are released that have EUEs in a string, it's not the machines they run on that are responsible, especially with systems that have proven stable for months at the same settings. I also experienced a short string of 3-4 WUs in a row that EUEd before the 0% mark - it was nearly instant. No way that's a clock issue.I also find it wierd how so many people have had strings of failures with the 2684 WU all during the first 0-1%. I had a string of 6 consecutive failure EUE and flushes within the 1% myself before it grabbed another 2684 that was completely stable. When an overclock is marginally unstable, it seems like something only fails after it has been running for a long time, hence why Prime95 might be stable for a few hours, but can often fail when you stress test overnight.
We had the same issue with OC when A2 -bigadv. Clocks that people swore where stable because they folded other SMP WU with no problems. People lowered their OCs after huffing and puffing and everything was fine.
They are squeezing everything they can out of these procs. A stable OC for one kind of WU is not always going to be the same for other.
I have the same conversation that say their system is prime 95 stable but crashes when folding.
Also, if a OC is not stable for that WU, it wigging out in the first few frames is not a shock.

2684 is much more RAM intensive than the 2681-83 A2 WUs were for me.
On my linux it was using 6.5gb of RAM and 900mb of Swap at one point. So for those of you that are only running 6gb that may be problematic.

One of my -bigadv systems running native Linux cannot complete these WUs. It hasn't uploaded results for over half a week. I have removed the OC and it's now running at stock frequency. It probably won't make the bonus deadline but I don't care. I just want to see if it can even complete one P2684 at all. If it cannot, then Stanford definitely needs to go back to the drawing board. My rig picked up another 2684 late last night and so far it is chugging along without a problem! Here's to hoping that the stability issues have been worked out!

A3 -bigadv is supposed to have a smaller memory requirement. Evil said in the neighborhood of around 2GB.
Anyone know the cutoff TPF with the bonus and these WUs?
OK, without the OC, my system with all the issues is doing a bit over 55:00 per frame. That's cutting it very close. If I see it progressing fine after 24hrs, I might raise the frequency a bit to take off a minute or two from the TPF.The maximum is 57:36 according to the calculator. I wasn't even close to making it on my pc.

musky will your rig run 200X19 if soo i think you will see a 500 to 1000 ppd boost. my i7-920 running 211X19 does over 20k a day in windows A3. where my other rig running 190X21 only does 18k
Yes, it was a folding crash that froze the system. This is a system that hasn't had a crash in months. The temperature is very cool today and all previous 2684s on this system completed without a hitch. I am stumped...Apollo i'm sorry to hear about that. Was it a crash due to the folding client? At 99%, that probably hurts..........
