Heyy all i just got a new graphics card, i got an Geforce 6800 Xtreme AGP 8x card for about 200 bucks from Tiger direct w/o rebait. my previous card was a 9800 pro 128 mb

my setup:
2.8 ghz intel
1 gig
Geforce 6800 XTreme

just woundering what you guys think of the card, and also atm i havea 450 PSU and i thinking of switching it with a 500 PSU. is there any difference in performance gaining with 500?
 
Personally, I don't think the 6800XT is good. I'd have gone with an X850Pro or X800XT. I think 200 was too much to pay for it. But you should enjoy the card anyway.

And as long as the PSU is stable and solid, there's no speed difference.
 
No. If you are having a stability problem, a stronger PSU might fix it, but no guarantees.
 
Yeah, uh... Never buy from TigerDirect.

Make sure your next purchase is either at Newegg or ZipZoomFly.
 
so was that 200 canadian dollars then? And can the xt's be unlocked to 12 or 16 pipes? If so then that would be a decent card.
 
you dont need a stronger psu for that card. also that card is probably only a little bit faster than your 9800pro if at all. you should have gotton at least a 7600gs.
 
To tell you the truth, it doesn't matter what your budget is, but what you do with it.
 
Ok i'll be going down shortly i need a fast opion , would this card be a powerful upgrade from a 9800 pro 128? i love how its a Vista ready card too thats great! :)
 
They just put vista ready there for marketing strategy. To get you to buy the card lol
 
l they didnt have the 7600 so i just went with the RAdeon x1600 pro , i know u guys are going to say its a pice of crap, but really in DArk messiah open beta in some areas i get 30 fps and i used to get 20-25 in those areas with the 6800 XT

yes the 1600pro is pretty bad for modern games. its a little slower overall than a 6600gt. ;)
 
well therse nothing i can do, I dont want to order online, and also that 6800 XT didnt make a difference. and they didnt have the 7600 gt instock, thats only online purchase. Well what card can you suggest that i get, thats in the 160-200 range, from www.futureshop,ca or Bestbuy.ca or Summitdirect.ca. (This is Canadian and i dont want to purchase anything over the web, i rather go to the store and pick it up,) also i dont wanna over clock the chip either
