Well I recently got a mobile 2500 but I am having some problems finding some good OCs that will work with it. I mean I have gotten it to run good for a while but sometimes my games crash. Right now its clocked at 2.5ghz (210fsb x 12) and i think its at about 1.9volts. I ran prime 95, 2 instances of it and did the torture tests. One ran for a while (about 5 hours) and then the other ran for about 1 and a half hours, then it died. So right now my problem is finding a good OC that will work and not crash. Here are my current system specs.

Mobile AMD XP 2500+
1GB PC3200 Corsair XMS (2x512mb)
Abit NF7-S Rev. 2 Mobo
Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

My rig also has water cooling so the cooling part shouldnt be a problem, i am using the dangerden CPU block along with their GPU block. Thank you for all the help!
 
Hmm...

have you tried different fsb multiplier configurations and/or different ram timings?

Just for the hell of it give 15x167mhz a shot . If it still fails prime that will rule out the ram and chipset being the factor.

Also even with water cooling heat may still be an issue. Have you tried different voltage configurations? Mine will do 2500mhz at 1.75 but due to the $15 heat sink it gets too hot and crashes after 20 minutes.
 
Why two instances of prime? AthlonXP's do not have hyperthreading.. :confused:

Also, I'd say it's probably your power supply. I was running my rig on a 350 watt turbolink, and the most I could pull out of my mobile 2400+ was around 2.2 ghz. With my new Fortron 530, I can do about 2.5 at 2.00V.
 
Thanks for the reply I will give it a shot and see how it goes. Oh and by the way, i just got 2 36gb raptors (i saw that you have 2 also) and i was wondering what the best sized stripe is on those. I set mine to 64k cause i read somewhere that it performs the best for speed.

Im not exactly sure which i set it to. Back when i had 2x60 maxtors i tried every iteration of stripe size and cluster size and cam to the conclusion it didnt really matter all that much. I believe my raptors are at 32k stripe and 4k cluster.

A recent anandtech article has shown raid 0 isnt that effective for desktop machines. (eg game loads arent any faster than a single drive). I would rather have a single 74 gig raptor.
 
Yea, but i already have one 36gb raptor drive in my comp so i figured i didnt want to spend like 200 dollars more.

yeah pretty much what i did. With todays current games at 3-5 gigs a pop 36 gigs fills up real fast. Also when copying files from the raptor raid to other hard drives the raid must be benificial. (large sequential reads)
