And after 4 months of design and build, the after...

Very nice job, looks like something that should be in Bioshock.

Thanks for the compliments! I've unfortunately never played BioShock (which was also just mentioned in the worklogs forum), but I guess I'll have to now, to find my computer on it. The inspiration was an old divers helmet. What my pictures are not showing is the blue-ish light that is coming from the inside of the case, which is very "watery" feeling.

I am really thrilled about how well it came out.

I personally dont like the look of it, but i can appreciate the work you put into it. Nice work:)

Reminds me of something from a sci-fi movie.
It looks so frikken cool. But wouldn't it hurt if you accidently banged your arm on it or your head?

Its all good. I was definitely going the opposite direction of most case modding. This is big, and bulky, and heavy, not at all streamlined. It could probably stop a Sherman Tank though.

Thanks for the compliments on the work put in, I really appreciate that a lot!

Even worse - if it fell on me. I have to weigh it yet, but this thing has to be pushing close to 80lbs. The side panels alone are close to 8-10 pounds... each. I'm glad you like it.

I really wanted a monolithic case, and I think this thing succeeds in that area very well. Now I just need 4 friends to help me carry it, if I ever move.

that is awesome especially seeing what case you started with. And yeah i got a little bioshock vibe too, but bioshock isn't the first one to have a style like this. Great choice of paint colors.

Wow, that case is absolutely awesome.
I wish I had the time, patience and vision, as well as the room, money and ability, to do anything even a tenth as good as that.
Just wow.

Thank you so much for the compliment, it is great to see it.

I didn't have much in the way of money either, and am on a really tight budget.

I think the entire case cost about 350 bucks, which may seem like alot, but really, seeing what I got from it, I think it is worth every penny. Besides, there are some high-end cases that cost well over that, iirc. And really, the best part, this case is absolutely unique in the world. There may be others similar somewhere, but this one is mine. That just makes it so priceless to me. (and it is just going to get cooler - stay tuned for Phase II).

w0w.,..

looks awesome!

Reminds me of something that would be used to go back in time Or that movie the time machine..

Freaking sweet!

When looking at the pictures I immediatly thought about Bioshock too. Great case mod, looks good and would really fit in the Bioshock setting.

Very nice. Looks like a professional mod. How much did this cost all together?

So a f*cking cool case!! i love it
Just the CRT screen looks crapy vs. the cool case XD

Yeah, the CRT is on the way out. I'm going to replace it with a LCD of some kind, about 24" should do. Once I break it in, I'll mod out the monitor to match, as well.

Very nice. Looks like a professional mod. How much did this cost all together?

Lets see, (approximate numbers)

$137.00 bucks in hardware - fasteners, etc.
$60.00 in spray paint and primer
$17.00 Industrial grade superglue
$22.00 start / reset buttons
$18.00 weather station for gauges

Case - free
Acrylic - free (I know a good dumpster to dive in)

Total...

$254.00 +/-

It just took a lot of labor ^^

Have you entered the build into the mod shop contest, I think it would stand a chance of doing well?

Very nice case job! It looks like it came out of the Bioshock world.

I'm pretty proud of my case, and how well it came out for my first mod, but IDK if it is up to that level of snuff.

Thanks though, that is a great compliment to think that could be a possibility!

now you need to add some sea water and some fresh fish smells...

mmm :D

great job you have there, definitely very steampunk-ish. Reminds me more of the Thief series though.

congratulations skullkyng, you had a unique concept and saw it through to successful completion. It's an absolute original and the workmanship and attention to detail are outstanding. I look forward to phase II. :)

Thanks everyone! I'm just awaiting one more set of parts to arrive, and then I'll be digging into Phase II. (juggling it while trying to get in some AoC time should be interesting)

got any night shots? And u should seriously consider giving it a Bioshock theme name and enter it somewhere. I watched part of the WL before u finished it. Good work. People will appreciate it more if the theme matches the look. Seriously, i thought the same as everyone else....BIOSHOCK ATW :)

it does have a bioshock vibe to it. Download the demo to try it, youll see what everyone means. It also fits right in with Doctor Who, Flash Gordon, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Dune , and the Warhammer 40k Universe very well. Im sure there is a few ive not thought of. I like it even though id have never thought of something like that. Its also cool as its a lot different than what most of the others are doing.
