::Spoiler Alert::

I picked up COD4 and ocmpleted it in 2 days. I knew the game was short, so I wasn;t expecing my first playthrough to take very long, but I finished it in 2 days mostly because the game was so good!

The last set of missions, where you're going to assault the launch facility, was awesome, especially when you're running toward the base and all of a sudden everything turns orange from the missile's exhaust- that was such a cool moment!

This game is full of amazing graphics, and the combat system is superb, but the story has to be the best part of it, hands down! I don' know how they did it, but they totally sucked me in and made me care! Also the way they mess with time, especially at important moments, is so cool, especially when Captain Price slings you his pistol... Oh man:D That was amazing. I just hope the captain's okay- it was kind of scary to see that marine giving him CPR.

Also, I think that the coolest thing of all was the bonus level after the credits- that was so unexpected! I had set the controller on the couch next to me, when suddenly another level pops up- I sweat my heart jumped into my throat at that part!

Great game! If you don't own it BUY IT NOW!

I just beat it yesterday to, I hadn't really picked it up since I was so busy playing the multiplayer. With all the probs with the servers the last two days I started playing campaign and im not a big single player fan at all but I really got into it.

i really didnt like the last act. way to run and gun and you take way to many hits to stay in the mindset of the mission.
I found killing the badguys was pointless...Unless they are specifically blocking your path, killing one just spawns another.
Its ok for some missions, but it really got to me when your escorting the tank through the streets. at one point, i just took up position and was picking guys off. for like 20 min, I watched the same enemies run around the same wall, goto the same spot and shoot at the same place. kill them, repeat, exact same thing. Its just an endless stream of stupid badguys.
Clearing some building was retarded because the que to stop spawning them was inside the building, so you have the building surrounded, but dont enter the que range, and enemies just keep spawning, like +500 out of a 2 story house...non stop until you hit that cue. Clearing the map served no purpose but to waste time.

I know they tried to make things as intense as possible but after long, I found myself just shooting what I had and sprinting to the next cue spot to stop the respawning.

In the Chernobyl and AC130 missions, the immersion was fantastic, I felt like I was there....but the rest of it, I felt like I was playing Serious Sam.

When your teammates disposable and respawn instantly, it removes any team connection you have with them. I didn't care what happened to them, I had no reason to cover them or shoot someone who was shooting them. I know they wanted to it feel like you were playing with a large force, but it felt like it was just me, with a bunch of junk in the background.
Same with the SAS guys, completely invincible.

Story was no better or worse then most games....I found it painfully cliche, and the killing of the main characters seemed like it was a sorry ass attempt to add some sort of drama. The death scenes were well done, but after your first character gets killed by the nuke, I completely expected the rest of the missions to be suicide missions.

I loved the bullet penetration though....honestly, as much as I disliked COD4, I loved hitting people through the walls.

visuals were good, voice acting was good, weapon sounds were crap, weapon feel was crap....they didnt feel like guns at all....I donno how to saw it, they didnt feel like they had an mass.

Controls didnt even have an option to switch guns to single fire right?

I wanted to like COD4, I honestly did. I played it with an open mind and, wasnt comparing it during play...I just tried to enjoy the game...but it didnt take long for me to sit back in my chair and say to myself "this is fucking stupid"

the game has zero replay ability for me except for 2 parts. the chernobyl part and the AC130 gunship parts....honestly, make an addon pack of 20 gunship only missions and Ill play this for years.

Below is my initial comments of the demo, and im basically still there.
beautiful game. Runs like butter at max widescreen setting on the rig in my sig.

Few things I didnt like:
Gun sounds were terrible
Way to much going on at once. Game turns into a run and spray with so much going on....really removes any tactical fighting.
Your team basically holds down the triggers the whole game...burst fire anyone? nope.
Respawning enemies removes any point of actually killing any that are not directly blocking the path to your objective.
Respawning teammates really takes away from any concern about yourself or your team.

Few things I really likes
Eotech weapon optics :)
Night vision with the IR from the LAM on your gun
player animations are great, especially when recieving headshots
SHOOT THROUGH WALLS!!!!! I have been waiting for ever to find a game that does weapon penetration decently. Enemy hides behind a wooden box in other games, your screwed....enemy hides behind almost anything in this game and you can still get them.

Game is intense, but its to much. Slow things down, make it a little more tactical. Right now the game is to much run and gun. Mix in a bit of R6 Vegas or GRAW and you got a pure winner.

I think that COD4 might be my favorite game after portal. I LOVED the story, I got wayyyy too into it. I HATED the nuke part. It made me really want to kill the enemy more.

But I didn't have any problems with respawning team mates or enemies. I guess you might have those problems if you are a sit back n' camp sniper sort of person, but I just grabbed an MP5 and ran into it. Not spray and pray though, I actually had the time to make tactical decisions and execute them.

Overall, a great game that I have played a few times now.

^^^^^

try much of the multiplayer?

yah, didnt care for it really. Again, felt like an arcade shooter when it looks like a tactical shooter. The MP is much better then the SP, but it has zero pull for me until some "realism" mods come out.

Realism. Bleh! Give me close enough and make it fun.

HI COD4!! Freaking loved the game. Play it on Veteran. If you ever think it's too short, well this difficulty with definately add some hours on for you. Heh. CoD4 was such a tight game I can see why people loved it and wanted it for game of the year.

great game that is all i can say great graphcis great sound and most of all (unlike crysis) great game play they made the right mix this time

The single player was alright but the MP is substantially better. I also disliked the respawning enemies but I didn't mind the respawning teammates too much as I would hate to have to rely on them only for them to do stupid things and get mowed down. The story was pretty awful but I guess that is to be expected.

The only level in SP that I really hate is the one where you get airstrikes and run down the hill. It is a complete PITA to beat and the enemies just kept spawning in your way.

I finally just ran for it and finally made it, but just barely (this was on hardened). Maybe I am missing something, but there was just no good way to complete that part and the time limit made it even more impossible. I cannot imagine doing it on veteran.

The rest of the game is a lot of fun though, MP is awesome and the graphics are top notch. I dunno what you mean by realism mods Droc, but I think the MP is pretty realistic. Shooting different parts of the body results in different damages, weapons are all pretty realistic to their real life version, the perks are all pretty believable, and the player can do pretty much anything a normal soldier could do and not much more.

In my mind an arcade shooter is more of the type where you have a life bar and can hit over and over again without dieing...that is something COD4 is not.

Also, I think that the coolest thing of all was the bonus level after the credits- that was so unexpected! I had set the controller on the couch next to me, when suddenly another level pops up- I sweat my heart jumped into my throat at that part!
What the heck? I didn't know about that- I'll have to go check that out!

Well, as soon as you get in that field- go right. That was the only way (above the easiest setting) that I got through.
If you do it enough times (took me like 15 times), you can tell where the "checkpoints" are. Call an airstrike right where you know they are going to be, and then move ahead enough to trigger them. Time it right, airstrike takes care of it (mostly).

All in all they mainly stay in "packs" where airstrike covers it. But no matter which way you do it- the main thing you end up doing is running through the level.
