I'm so close!
Have I hit the max for my chip? It's an AM2 4400+ (stock 2.3Ghz)
I am running stable at 258*11.5 for 2.97Ghz and it just doesn't seem to want to go any higher.

To get to 2.97Ghz I did the following:
Increased FSB from 200 to 258
Relaxed my memory timings from 15-5-5-5 to 18-6-6-6
Increased vcore up to 1.4v from 1.3v
Increased Vdimm to 1.95v from 1.8v

Memory is running at CPU/7 which is 425Mhz, dual channel works out to 850Mhz from the stock 667Mhz.

I've tried 258, 260, 261, and 265 FSB with increased voltages (tried upping vcore, NB/SB, and VDimm) and none seem to want to even boot.

What should be my next step in trying to get the most out of this chip?

what kind of memory is it, and do you know if its the memory or the cpu that's crashing at the higher freqs? If you're using DDR2-667, then I'm gonna guess you're running into the ram, rather than the CPU. to check, you could drop the memory multiplier down.

your hyper transport multiplier is set a 5x at stock, you might have to drop it down to 4x.

Yeah I'm running 4x1gb of cheap Crucial Rendition DDR2 667Mhz at 850Mhz
That's likely my block eh?
I can't find anywhere in my BIOS to manual set the memory multiplier. I have it set on auto and it went to CPU/7.
I can manually set it from DDR2 667 to DDR2 800, but if I remember right it is not stable however the memory will run faster speeds if on auto...

There's a picture of my HT options.
All stock right now
