..on a randomn impulse. Maybe not completely random, but for a few days now I've been looking at reviews of it and I finally told myself "What's wrong with me I LOVE games that have a good story and are emotional" so I picked it up while buying groceries at walmart.

Anyways, popped it in and just played through the opening sequence..ITS AWESOME!

What is the rest of it like? I LOVED Final Fantasy 8. I have also played 7 and really liked it...i know those are classics but how is the rest of this game.

The story definitely gets rather interesting later on, but I won't spoil you.

You are in for one hell of a ride man! Easily my favorite game on the 360. I would go as far to say that it's one of my favorite JRPG's of all time.

Might as well pick all the JRPGs you can find for 360 since there are only a handful of them. Lost Oyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia are all must haves IMO.

If "only a handful" means "more than any other system", then yes.

If you like old skool JRPGs the game is f*ck*ng awesome. One of the best JRPGs I've ever played.

I'm currently giving it a break before I go back for the DLC. :)

Amazing game all around. The dreams are so unbelievably good.

Also forgot Eternal Sonata, which I enjoyed.

guys how the hell do i review dreams?

When i click on it in the dream menu nothing happens it just goes back to the main screen.....

Then yes what? Your statement makes no sense. I was merely making a comment on how there are not a whole lot of JRPGS for 360 so you might as well get them all if you like those types of games.

The number of JRPGs for the 360 is pretty reasonable given the system's age. The PS2 has been out for WAY longer and many of the most interesting RPGs for that system happened past the five year mark.

That is to say, comparing the aggregate number of JRPGs for a system that's almost nine years old to a system that's almost three is naturally unfair. I wouldn't be shocked to hear that the 360 was rather competitive with the PS2 if you went by number of release years correlated to the number of JRPGs.

I'm not saying this as a Sony hater or anything - I have a big stack of PS1 and PS2 JRPGs that I completely love (PERSONA 4 SOON WOO WOO!), but denigrating the 360's stack of JRPGs as "not a whole lot" is missing the point.

PS3 FANBOY. :p I'd probably strike Blue Dragon from the list. I was really excited for that title to hit last summer but was devastated by the demo. The disappointment specifically began when the little cat-creature opened his mouth and Imade me realize that I'm about 10 years too old for that shit.

Now tales of vesperia... if you dont have it, buy it.

People are overreacting to what I said. If you would all kindly take off your fanboy caps at the door before you reply to my comments I'd appreciate it. The reality is the 360 does not have nearly as many JRPGs as, for example, FPS. I'm not trying to compare it to any other console. I am not trying make an issue out of it, I was stating it as a fact. What I was trying to convey was there is only a small selection of JRPGs for the 360 and that they are almost all quality titles worth owning.

I'm sorry if my initial comment some how magically came off as degrading to the 360, but stop putting words in my mouth.

How am I PS3 Fanboy? The only console I own from the current generation is a 360.

The retail version of Blue Dragon has a voice language selection so that helps a lot. The graphics are pretty spiffy and the gameplay is solid for a traditional style JRPG. To each their own I suppose.

Great game i started playing a little bit ago, was my first game i picked up for the 360.

I easily put in 70 hours into this game. It has been a long time since I invested this much time into a jRPG. Graphics is good, story is pretty good, and I like the old school combat system (Not into the action jRPG trend that has been going on recently). I enjoyed reading the dream sequences also.

The only negatives I can think of are some of the character designs, slow first disc (shut up Jansen!) and the slight delays due to load and disc spinning. The loading into battles get worse as you get further along on the game.

its really different. since there are no summons , no running from battles no limit breaks but still very good game. Its made by the FF ppl. Ive stopped playing due to no power from the recent hurricane but ill start up again soon.

Shit, maybe im going to have to give this game another try once i beat tales of vesperia. I played it briefly at a friends house and was unimpressed, but maybe thats just because i didnt get any of the story, just a couple of combat encounters.

You missed the part where I was being sarcastic.

So um....I have been glued to this game since i bought it. This is RIGHT UP MY ALLEY. Sweet.

In fact I've been feeling so unproductive the past 2 days I decided that I need to seriously put away this game tomorrow..i have so much shit to do. I had to go cut the grass today just so i didnt feel like a completely useless vegetable.

Lost Odyssey really is a great game. It's the only game with a single player this generation that has pushed me over 70 hours. Hell it's the only one over 50 hours.

The reason this game still stood out so much to me after completing it is the story. The game does such a great job at developing the characters yet keeping you in the dark the entire time.hn

Anyone get the DLC? Pretty terrible level design, but it adds some interesting stuff to the game.

Better late than never! Also, after putting several hours in on Infinite Undiscovery and trying (and not liking) Tales of Vesperia.....Lost Odyssey is still the best RPG for the 360 so far.

We're getting into spoiler territory here, but my only quibble with the game is that it never really answers some of the questions about the characters, even during the ending. Maybe it's trying to tell you that it's not important, but it felt like a cop-out to some extent.

That's not to say the game isn't good - in fact, after having finally beat it yesterday, I think it's completely fantastic, and probably one of the best JRPGs to come out since FFXII. I am _astonished_ it reviewed as poorly as it did. Persona 3 FES still wins my "best ever" vote, though - it's the only game where I've actually cried a little during the ending, and am still haunted by it when I think about it. *shivers*

I don't just say every JRPG is good, either - Ar Tonelico is fun, for instance, but it got the scores it deserved.
