Just bought a 3DS XL and about 6 games.

I've waited long enough.. I want to enjoy my favorite Nintendo games again.

Bought :

Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D
Resident Evil: Revelations
Super Mario 3D Land
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Mario Kart 7

Consider me pumped. :D

Any other big 3DS fan's here? I have to admit I was skeptical for a while but there are lots of good looking games out now.

Sign up for club Nintendo with all your points cards in your game cases and the system you get points and can get some retro games with the points right now. Its free

Just got a 3DS XL as well. I am about 3/4 through Resident Evil and, other than a few annoyances, it is really good. I also bought Kingdom Hearts and Tales of the Abyss but haven't started playing them yet. Make sure to import a 3DS XL Circle pad pro.

Since u have a bunch of launch titles, Ridge Racer 3D is excellent and missing from your list.
I have also started playing Devil Survivor Overclocked again, it's an excellent game, and there is Fire Emblem coming out in 2 weeks, if you like strategy.

I picked up a Mario Cart 7 / 3DXL bundle at Fry's back in Novermber. It was a great deal and I was stuck in a hotel for a week. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit.

I've finished Mario Cart and Zelda: Ocarina of Time and I'm not working on Paper Mario.

I don't like this paper mario as much as the last few games, but it's still fun.

When I'm finished, I'm going to hunt down a good turn based RPG. Hopefully there is something out there by now!

There are Etrian Odyssey and Fire Emblem games which are either out now or coming soon.

Both in february FE on the 4th and EO on the 26th....I'm giddy about both. I just finished persona 4 and have no handheld games to play right now so antsy is a massive understatement.

FE has a demo on the Eshop right now.
Etrain Odyssey 4 will have a demo on Feb 7.

Now get this:
The demo includes one dungeon and part of another, along with a "skyship" section and a town that allows you to trade items via QR code and receive QR gifts. All of your progress in said demo will transfer to the full game when it comes out on February 26, so your bold experiment need not be in vain.

NICE.

that is crazy bad ass. I typically don't play demo's but I'll be hitting that up for sure.

I also played the FE demo out of boredom and its only 1 map as bare minimum as you can get.

EO 3 was so good that I honestly don't think EO 4 can be better...but it should be at least on par.

Wow I'm excited now to play it. SO many good games now compared to when it launched. I got the launch games for $20 bucks as well which I think is a steal considering a expensive Android/iPhone game can easily go over $10 and be half as decent.

I've never played EO, this will be my first one, so I'm definitely looking forward for the demo. Want to see what its all about, being an Atlus game, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. :)

You know, I was never into Turn Based Strategy. Couldn't stand the Advance Wars and older Fire Emblem's, Final Fantasy Tactics games. For some reason I couldn't say no to Devil Survivor Overclocked, so I picked it up and dropped it for months, and started playing through it again last week (7hrs in now). I really like that game. And the FE demo wasn't bad either....

I think there's something in the water...

Yes indeed, with lots more coming. First Castlevania of this gen in March. Oh? And how about this?
Project X Zone is coming to both Europe, Australia, US in the summer of 2013 for 3DS!!
Don't know what Project X Zone is? Well, I'm glad you asked... ;)

Released back in October in Japan, Project X Zone features more than 200 characters across 29 different franchises. It features characters from three different huge Japanese developers (Bandai Namco, SEGA and Capcom), all coming together to brawl in a turn-based strategy/fighting game combination.

EO is not everyone's cup of tea as the game can be quite brutal at times and is about as hardcore as an RPG can get.

Devil Survivor is banana's good. Strange Journey and Devil Survivor 2 are just ok in comparison.

DO WANT

Castlevania ....new... coming to 3DS in March?

YOU SIR JUST COLORED ME FUCKING EXCITED! :D

What? Castlevania for 3DS??

I was always on the fence with this handheld since I still have my DSLite that is now getting used again...but Castlevania....urgh....Plus Tales of the Abyss....

So much want.

Actually, stupid question:

The one time I tried it, everything was in 3d. I hated it. Are all the games like that? Or are there only a select few?

There is a 3D slider so you can basically turn off the effect entirely if you don't like it. So you don't have to worry about it :)

Go grab Pushmo off the store if you haven't already. You woln't be disapointed.

After that, get the sequal, Crashmo.

Yeah dude, it looked like shit at e3 last year, so they delayed the game pretty bad to "fix it".
I've been having a hard time finding new information since they went quiet in September, but new screenshots have finally popped up. Some ninja fan found new pictures on Amazon.jp.

They fucking fixed it. It didn't looks like this AT ALL, last year.
Check it:

I'm hyped. I imagine there will be some sort of blowout before release. Need more info.

I think those stills look pretty bad, but it might be better in motion - low resolution stuff typically does. Is it just me or does the PSP Dracula X game have better visuals?

I think the psp has better visuals the the 3DS across than board so far. Vita is just in another league at this point.

You should have seen the media from e3 last year. This is TONS better. This looks more like SOTN/the DS games than the junk they came up with originally. The main thing I'm worried about the is ability/magic system, every DS game had a different system that was better than the previous IMO. We haven't seen anything about abilities and weapons yet. Last I heard it was supposed to be very basic, like Castlevania 4, one weapons, a few items. But that was before they delayed it, because they wanted to flesh out a better system. Who knows what going on now. I really don't like the silence. The 3 DS games were exceptional and this doesn't bode well.

Thats where IGA shined. It's a shame he's not involved. Kinda stupid, if you ask me.

I can't really justify purchasing a 3DS, I bought my little sister one when it came out though because she wanted it really bad.

Mario Kart was fun for about 10 minutes though.

Ehhh?
I was talking about Castlevania...

Well my impressions so far as follows...

I'm simply loving the 3DS. The games are extremely fun (the ones I picked anyway) and I can't get over how nostalgic I'm feeling in general. Its like playing an SNES on the go but with better graphics and for me that is basically the utter depiction of gaming nirvana.

I also like the extra little features the system has , lots of little concepts put into reality that actually work. I can only imagine being a kid all those years ago and seeing this system and being in awe.

Now its not a perfectly little console , the 3D is pretty great when developers make proper use of it and work on preventing crosstalk. As far as I can tell Nintendo does this the best (big surprise) and most other 3rd parties still need to work on there 3D efffect overall a bit more. I can play Mario Kart or Super Mario Land 3D with 3D fully enabled for hours before any kind of headaches but I can only play about 30 minutes to an hour on a 3rd party game before I get headaches. I'm sure over time developers will get the hang of it.

I bought this system on a total whim because its been two years and I was interested by it in the beginning , I wanted to wait until their were some really good games on it and now there certainly is. I think compared to the Vita , the 3DS just has a better library and platform. Sony has treated the Vita like an experiment gone wrong and I'm SO glad I didn't buy one (even though Uncharted was a GIANT temptation) because there are only about 4 good games on it and nothing in the near future interests me this fall.

So if your on the fence , grab a 3DS even if you don't like 3D. The games can stand on their own two feet without trouble.

I love my 3DS XL. It's really awesome. The only thing I don't like is that if you buy something on the eShop you can only use it on that system. So if you're like me and want all models of the 3DS or your 3DS breaks and you have to get a new one you're screwed.

Been using a 3DS with a Supercard DSTwo to read books (via txt files using a homebrew ebook reader) and occasionally watch movies too when I'm on the go. Thinking about getting a 3DS XL since if the screen were just a wee bit bigger, it'd be perfect.

Maybe I will after the next price drop, though it's already way cheaper than what I paid for my 3DS originally.

Gah this thread makes me sad...

I've wanted a 3DS for so long and the 3DSXL even more, but the '3D' parralax screen technology crap that Nintendo uses just doesn't get along with me. I just don't 'see' the 3D... to me it just looks like a screen door mess.

But still, Mario Kart alone makes me drool... and isn't there a new Super Mario Bros title that just came out for the 3DS?

New Super Mario Bro's 2 actually and its fully co-op which is awesome. Without 3D on the screen door effect is pretty minimal.

Also .. this will probably sate your desire with an AWESOME sale :

3DS XL for only $169.99 at Best Buy's online site. It doesn't get any cheaper than that.

You can transfer your data/purchases to a new 3DS at anytime in the games menu. You have to login on both systems and basically download your data from one 3DS to the new 3DS you want it on.

Got a source for that? I tried researching that, because I was gonna just download Fire Emblem, then i saw that Nintendo has some pretty bad DRM that's tied to the system you get it on, so that changed my mind.

I'm a big fan, I'd also recommend:
New Super Mario Bros 2
Professor Layton and The Miracle Mask
Shinobi 3DS
Tales of The Abyss

Nintendo has a faq on this, but I can't link it because of the firewall at work. Here's another one.

You're limited to 5 system transfers if it matters.

I am loathing that I may have to re-buy a 3ds just for Fire Emblem... Try as I might my peon brain cannot process tactics games with a difficulty greater than Advance Wars/FFTA/Fire Emblem.

I enjoy the Vita for what it is but the lack of good games on the horizon is a bit unnerving; been playing FFT from PSP on it and have been getting pwnd hard and it being an original ps1 game the graphics are quite bad.

Phantasy Star online 2 is the next Vita game I'm getting....I'll play that for days

Nice.

Sega will release the game on the PS Vita in Japan on February 28. The software download will be free, and the game will be free to play, although in-game items will have fees. There will also be a Phantasy Star Online 2 Special Package sold with exclusive item codes on the same day for 5,229 yen (about US$58).

Sega launched Phantasy Star Online 2 for Windows last summer. Sega will also release the game for iOS/Android smartphone devices, but the release has been delayed until this year to raise product quality. The game is free-to-play across all platforms.

Looks like we may be waiting for US release...

I'll probably just buy the cartridge, better to do that than to worry what would happen if i were to break my 3ds by some unfortunate accident.

Figured I'd jump in on the 3DS XL love. I bought a 3DS back at launch, but I sold it a few months later because the only games I was interested in were either releases or still a few months off.

My games (and there all games I enjoy too) are:

Starfox 3D
Zelda: OoT
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart 7
Cave Story 3D+
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy

My biggest gripe is actually with Star Fox 64. The voices are all different, and that kind of bugs me. It just feels a bit wrong. But I'm probably one of the few people that cares about that :p

Everything else has been a blast. I highly recommend the cartridge version of Cave Story. There's not a whole lot added on, just better visuals really, but it's a fun game and even the 3DS shop version is worth picking up.

It is a real bummer about the Vita. I loved mine at first, had a few decent games and 1 or 2 great games, but there really isn't anything on the horizon for me (I'm not a Persona fan either, so the big games of these three months isn't something I enjoy). I picked up a PSP Go recently, another miserable attempt by Sony, as a portable emulator player and I gotta admit that it's nice to play my GBA/GB/SNES games all over again.

You have to remember that the DS had RAMPANT piracy , the likes of which PC gaming and home consoles couldn't even fathom. It was so bad that many developers actually stopped making DS games (good DS games) because they would often have a situation where so many R4 flash carts where out and about that anyone could download their new game and play it without any kind of issue. I hate DRM in all forms , but I understand why Nintendo is being really tight with its DRM this time around .. if someone manages to get another R4 flash cart going but on the 3DS then Nintendo will face another situation where all the good developers just ditch the platform entirely.

Considering how attractive phone/tablet mobile gaming development is now , its no longer a situation where Nintendo is the only real game in town. Hell even Sony might manage to convince some of the refugee developers to make games on its platform. So aggressive DRM is really the only way Nintendo is going to keep its platform from being ruined by pirates.
