hey,
I just got a new computer with Sapphire 9600XT 128MB, and I did the 3dmark01 benchmark, and I got a mark of about 7000, doesn't it need to be better???
 
yup it should be higher than that.

I have p4 1.6 overcooked to 2.4 and geforce 4 ti 4200 @ 4400 speeds.

Gets about 10000


Try updating your motherboard drivers
 
Check ur vid card its settings (ie make sure anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering is disabled,etc..........)
 
where can I find that anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering!?

in the setting I have the Direct3D and the OpenGL things.
I put them both on x4 and x8.
and what will be better, to enable the Fast Write or not!?
 
Turn off all the AA and AF stuff, check your mobo drivers and update, and are your video card drivers the newest?

When I have my 9700 pro on my 1.6a OC'D to 2.6 I got 18k with it :) so...with my 9500 pro I got 12k, and with my 9600 pro I got 13.5 I think Havent done it in FOREVER
 
Souns about right. Think u could hit 13000 if ya overclock it.
( i score 13000 ish with my pc)

Umm, my friend...

First of all, when you are benchmarking for compairing "3DMark" bullshit, do it with FSAA and AF off. Put all sliders to low. That is just how it is "done" (not defending it).

And, for the record (within a reasonable amount of error) you should get 11,000 (+/- 1000) 3DMarks for 2K1 and 3600 (+/-200) for 2K3.

This is a good card, but it is not a TOP-END card.

If you want that, take it back and buy another card for 2x the price of the 9600XT.

I hear that everytime someone has trouble with 3dmark. I know its true you dont run it for the benchmarks, but they are supposed to relate to real game experiences. Sure you can do game benchmarks, but not everyone has that game and these tests give an average playing field. But I have to also agree with the other guy, bragging rights.

However, At first when I was testing I only got 15k and I was like...Something is wrong. So I went back reformatted and reinstalled everything, at a reasonable hour unlike the first time, and Improved the score by 6k, So it is a good program to use to test to make sure your in the right ball game and didnt forget to do somthing which would also be holding down your games. Sorry to flame its just that I get tired of hearing that.
 
I know the 9600XT isn't a top end card but 11k with a modern system (2600+/2.6C or better) seems low with nForce2 and 865/875. I'm getting 13k with my system, and the RAM and processor is nearly 4 year old technology, although it's helped out tremendously by the dual channel memory.

Well, like-it-or-not, there be the facts.

I have 1.5gb of PC3200memory, a 3200+ processor, and an overclocked 9600pro, and I get 11700 3dmarks in 2k1 and 3600 in 2k3.

As was pointed out before, this does not define the size of my penis, nor does it make me a better/worse person. Hell, I don't give a shit. This benchmarking does, however, tell me that my system is working as it should, and if I run it for 24 hours on each, I know my overclocking is not too high. :)

I bench MEAN!! With all the eye candy on baby. It not only makes the tests look WAY better, it gives you more perspective on how your games will run. I mean who plays todays games with shit graphics? 800x600 and shit detail is for FPS freaks IMO.

Give me quality over frame quantity (preferably no lower than 55fps please) anyday.

mid range cards suck....

the best buy is always the bottom of the highend.

Like the ti4200 was..... (still is a great buy)

or currently the
9800 non pro, 5900 non ultra , or 5900SE

the budget & low end cards are always crippled too much.
ex. GF4mx, 5200, 5600, 5700, ATI 9600, 9200, etc...

I'd still buy a ti4200 for $90 before any of the current mid/bud cards. (best bang for buck card... ever!)

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. The 4200 is an excellent buy for an old card. I sure wouldn't buy one now, though... not as a gamer looking towards the future (as in the next year or so).

I would, however, suggest you to actually use a 9600pro/xt (I have owned or recenly installed all of following cards: TNT, TNT2, 2mx, 2Titanium, 4200, 5200, 5600, 8500le, 8500, 9000, 9200, 9600np, 9600p, 9800p) so I think I can tell you that it doesn't "suck" as you put it. I guarantee I can play the games I want with some FSAA/AF at playable framerates with the same or better quality that you can now.

Maybe if I had a ti4200? I get crazy fps. I can play games at 1600x1200 with 4AA, etc.

It helps having 3.6Ghz of power and 6000Mb/s of ram bandwidth though too!! :)

Yep... I am sure you can do all of that and more. My only objection to your ramblings is that the card sucks. It does not. That is my point.
