but what drivers to use on it? i have a X800 pro now, and have been using the drivers off of some FAQ page on ATI that actually enables all of the ram. but before i was noticing speed differenced of 300-500 points in 3dmark 05 compared to the newest drivers at the time.

so since im moving from a PRO to an XT i was wondering if i should also be upgrading my drivers to a better, newer revision as well...



also anyone with the AIW? what kinda speeds are you seeing overclocking?

i dont expect to hit the 540/540 that my pro did

Use catalyst 5.1, I've heard some bad things about that catalyst 5.2. Also, you can check out the Omega drivers. People sem to love them.

Enjoy the card. I was going to get this guy from ZZF, but decided to give pcie one more chance.
 
The 5.2s are great you just have to restart once or twice after the initial driver restart to get em working. Its up to you though.
 
are you SURE these drivers have support for 256 ram? the last time i looked WHQL cert drivers were only enabling 128 of it..... BTW i just unpacked the card (came in today!!) it comes with ALOT of stuff

I think they patched that bug a few driver releases ago.
 
finally got my issues worked out, hopefully.

first card had a high resolution DVI issue where anything above like 640x480 would kill the dvi output. exchanged the card, and got one now that seems to have another little bug, but not 100% sure its all the card, yet.

purchased at newegg.

its funy i would have thought that it would be sharper than a tv, but this thing has more static than regular TV. if someone has a place for me to host images, ill post some up

lemme also add that the online program guide is slightly buggy, and the remote wonder RULES and would rule even more if it could control IR signals! i dunno why the hell they have AUX buttons on it, since its a RF remote theres like 2 things in my entire house that are RF besides this thing (and both are fans)

Wow not better than my 15 year old TV. Is that at full screen or what? And have you tried it without cable or satelite hooked up? If so how is the regular atteana reception?
 
this is cable. and no its not fullscreen. i could ahve taken a fullscreen, but ppl seem to get irritated about large size ics (im running 1600x1200 res and it would be LARGE pic)


i am gonna try a few more things to attempt to make the pic better, but a picutre is better than nothing, so i am happier than i was :p
 
wow, that picture is horrible lol...I sure hope something is wrong with your setup otherwise I am staying far away from any AIW card. I was hoping that the new theater200 chip would improve the quality over previous AIW cards.

any other AIW users chime in and tell me if theres anything i could do to possibly improve the image. i think my main issue is that theres a water pump within 1 inch of the tuner on the card, but theres no way for me to fix THAT.

Is cable going to look good at 1600x1200?
Most TVs don't go anywhere near 1600x1200.

What happens if you change your resolution to 1024x768?
 
those 3 pics were taken at 640x480. so just blow them up fullscreen to see what it would look like
 
Depends on your cable signal too. Which I hate I dunno I am going to buy the AIWX800XT since its the same power as a normal XT and only 30 bucks more for more features. I mean who cares if they are not the greatest I will take anything I can get. Also the Ati Tv wonder elite 550p looks good but their are still some better products but not by much.

the problem with turning an analog signal into a digital one is that if magnifies all of the interference and noise in the signal. You normally wouldn't notice it as much on a normal tv with it's crappy resolution. I have a TV capture card and all the channels are just bleh.... but on my tv they look just fine.

just the way it is.... :(
 
Hey I have one more question. I dont have cable so I dont have a antenna to connect to this card if I was to get it so does it come with a antenna built in or otherwise?
 
hell no, bu there are some nice amplified portable antennas around town nowadays by TERK

I noticed that too. I use beyond TV to record all my tv shows and stream them to my xbox. Watching the channels on my PC looks kinda crappy. But when I play them on the TV it looks just fine, and thats after its been compressed (WMV).
