I'm working on learning more about Juniper network stuff, but want to put together a small home lab so that I can get some hands on experience. Suggestions on what gear to pickup? Thanks!

For the ScreenOS firewall appliances, a SSG5 from ebay should do nicely. As a bonus, it makes a good home firewall/router. Downside is it only has 100M ports. ScreenOS config files are mostly portable from one type of device to another. Primary difference is how the physical ports are addressed. Used a bunch of these where I last worked.

Never played with their switch gear.

It would require a bit extra leg work on your part, but look into GNS3. it has the ability to virtual juniper appliances so that you can get familiar with them.

Another vote for a Fleabay SSG5. They're dirtcheap. The only potential issue is that anything less than the SRX series on the routers use ScreenOS rather than the full JunOS. Much of the syntax and concepts carry over as I understand it.
