looking to build a intel rig this time around, have not had one since the first pentium 4

im crossed between the i5 4690 or a i7 i think 4770? it waas around 300

500 is my budget for a cpu memory and mainboard probably will be getting it at microcenter even with taxes its cheaper then online

came up with this on MC
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz LGA 1150
ASRock Z97 Extreme6 Socket LGA 1150
Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 8GB2 x 4GB) DDR3

Subtotal $469.97
Tax $29.37
Grand Total $499.34

4690k + motherboard at Microcenter, then RAM online (1600-1866 mhz CAS 9, 1.5v or lower) for the best deals. RAM is expensive at Microcenter.

yea i have been leaning towards the 4690k more just because its 200, but is the mainboard i picked out good for a little overclocking? and any suggestions for memory brands or certain one? i was also thinking of getting the new swifttech AIO water cooler later in the holidays for when im ready to overclock

Yes, it is fine for overclocking. With the FIVRs on Haswell, overclocking is CPU dependent, not motherboard dependent as long as it is good enough, which the Extreme6 should be.

G.Skill, Patriot, Kingston, Corsair are all highly recommended. I would just pick the cheapest one you can find, at the specs I stated.
