I am replacing my mobo and also thinking of replacing my Corsair A70 cooler with the
H100. I have a 2500k and with no OC it idles around 37c and when running Prime95 for an hour it is at 61c. I am planning on OC'n once my new board is installed. Would the H100 be a good investment? Noise level is crucial.

Depends how much you are comfortable spending. An H100 doesn't even compare to a true water cooling setup, but it's great compared to any air coolers.

Not looking break the bank. The H100 would be on the high end of what I would like to spend. Looking for a good step up from my air cooler. Best bang for the buck option.

Well, best bang for the buck would be sticking with your A70, haha. According to Hard's reviews, the H100 would net you 4.6C on low with stock fans and 7.3C with push/pull on low (both with CPU overclocked). As for sound, the H100 puts out 40.2 and 40.9 dB on low with push and push/pull, respectively. The A70 was rated at 45.7 dB.

So, actually, maybe the H100 would indeed be "worth it" (value is subjective). Looks like the best deal is probably about $100 right now.

If $100 is the top of your budget, I would go with a H60 and buy some nf-f12 fans for the H60. Those two fans and the h60 will put you right at $100 and your computer, under full load, will be around 20db (virtually silent).

I have an h60 in only a push configuration with a 2500k at 4.5 with sub-optimal air flow and I never break 70C and the computer remains absolutely silent.
