Got a Jpac from newegg a few days back and put this together -


There's a lot more room between the psu and optical drive. there's also a big space between the mainboard and the front panel, good for watercooling equipment.

The front bezel is nicer than either the qpack or micro-fly, imo. But the handle is really flimsy, i would never use it to carry the jpac.

The windows are made out of polystyrene, the stuff they use to make transparent parts in cheap model cars and airplanes. But they look very easy to replace, and they are mounted flush with the outside surface.

The JPAC is prob exactly the same as the ultra-fly. The quality is not as good as the x-qpack, ie metal is lighter gauge, cover is 3 pieces instead of one, windows cheap and easily scratched, chassis flexes. I used the included "550 watt" psu for a day or so with no probs. But just the fact of the extra size and the intake fan make it a better case than the qpack.
 
Nice build. I'm curious about the noise level though, are the fans that it uses loud at all? If I remember the pics correctly, the 120mm seemed to use a molex connector which makes it difficult to attach it to any type of fan controller.
 
i am using the 120mm from the qpack, which is not very loud. also, i am using a fairly quiet 80mm as the intake. the thing in the 3.5" bay is the meter from the psu showing the massive 130watts i draw at idle.
 
Looks awesome man! Nice honest review. I just bought one. Ya the materials are no doubt cheap, but I am not using it for hockey practice and the 3 panels are definitely a bonus.

What is great is how easy it looks like it is going to be to replace those panels if I screw up modding. Buy some lucite from Home Depot, drill a few holes and done.

Do you know how much space is between the hard drive rail and the metal side of the case? Trying to figure out what size fans I could squeeze in there.

theres not much space. you can get an 80x15mm fan, but it wont leave much space to draw air from. i will measure it later for you. it would prob be better to use the 5 1/4" bay with something like this

but between the 120mm exhaust and the 120mm fan on the psu it ventilates a lot of hot air. also no more vent holes on the side panels like on qpack. these constantly got clogged with dust and cat fur.
 
Thanks! Nah, it's alright. I should have it by Thursday, so I will see what can be done. It kills me that they did not put any other structural support at the corners or I could just whack off that rail! That thing is going to be a problem...

How sturdy would it be if I just cut off the left rail? :)
 
If you chop the entire left rail, the case will turn into jello. If you just cut a portion of it (where they made the hole in the rail), you might get away with it. The case is flimsy as it is. I almost wish they made it out of steel instead.
 
You can go to the SFF gallery.. Did the same thing and didn't really change.. its not so sturdy from the beginning anyways...
 
That whole rail can be removed by a screw at each end. If you are not going to move it around much (jpac), it will be ok. it bulks up a little bit after you get your motherboard and drives in. but not a lot.
 
Nice! :cool: So would a 120mm fit on the other side between the plexi and the rail? That is about 4 3/4" tall. I eyeballed it and it looks like it might squeeze in there.
 
Whoops...you were all talking about THAT rail. You might just want to redrill some holes and move the metal rod higher up on the case so you can accomodate your desired intake/exhaust fan. Or you can just go monorail....Monorail!!! Monorail!!! Mono---

Maybe Spock can beam it higher. ;) I am looking at both though.
