I have a NF7-S motherboard and I love it but it does not have a joystick port. This motherboard has onboard sound that it is pretty good and I don't want to replace it. The problem is that I have an old Sidewinder that needs to plug into a joystick port not a usb port. Can I buy a cheap (under $10) soundcard that has a joystick port and disable the sound portion but still be able to use the joystick portion?
 
Sure, just don't let it install (or dont manually install) the sound drivers... only the joystick port. That way you'll know it is always going to your primary sound card.

If XP auto installs the drivers just disable the devices in Device manager
