On a personal note - and I don't care if this unfashionable to say - I loved every minute of Gothic 4. I can only assume that the planned expansion has been, uh... terminated. That's a bloody shame.

The JoWood rep on the official forums states the expansion is still on track for what it's worth. Since it's pretty far along and something that can bring in revenue for creditors it has a good chance of being released.

Yes, and I will wait for said expansion release, community/official patches and mods, and a lower-priced steam sale before I buy. Heh... I couldn't justify Gothic 4 or Risen this past Winter sale, and now I hear of this insolvency... how sad.

I suppose that when I eventually play the game I'll find out why it did so poorly in sales... oh well.

Risen wasn't released by JoWood, who is a publisher. Be happy, Pirhana Bytes is still alive and kicking as a dev.
