Joomla - Good or bad?

So i have currently taken over doing a website for some family and they are currently using Joomla. So far i have had no problems, but im not sure if there is a better way for me to go with this.

There is not to much updating to do, and i already know the system. just dont know if it will get them more business. i mean, isn't that the point of making a good site. right now i can see that i need to edit the keywords.

Any help would be appreciated

Joomla is very good and can do anything any other CMS can do.

If there isn't much updating needed then you might be better off with just using HTML/CSS. It's a lot easier to design a new layout in only HTML/CSS then trying to design it with Joomla. The whole purpose I suggest people use Joomla is because they don't know HTML/CSS.
 
what about making SEO. i know of a few components that will help, but in general, is there any real issue?
 
No. You can optimize Joomla for easier search results just like plain HTML/CSS.
 
Not sure about the latest version of Joomla as I use an older one for legacy support, but generally there are modules that allow link rewriting, custom titles, custom meta tags, etc.

The template design, css based, allows huge amounts of freedom as far as SEO is concerned.

My business site uses Joomla since it's inception and has not left top 10 (hovers between #1-#7) for it's main keywords on google.

I've been out of touch with Joomla development for a year or so. The stuff I use is not being developed anymore and better alternatives are out there already.

I couldn't help ya with finding the right module. Check out the joomla forums, they have loads of information.
