Just pulled the trigger on a Dell 2405. Yay!

Im not sure if I should have waited for the 30" or not. If the price on the 24" drops all of a sudden, does Dell do a price guarantee like Best Buy?
 
I also bought one and waiting for it to arrive. 30 inch monitor is too big to play FPS games as no cards in the market can drive games at acceptable frame rates under their native resolution.

I think 2405 FPW is the best of both worlds, big screen with native resolution that can run games very well using the right video card or SLI setup.

For non-gamers, the 30 inch new display is a really good addition.

I am currently using 19" Mitsubishi Diamontron CRT. At first it was huge when I compared it to my 6 year old 14" monitor, now I don't see it that huge I rather see it small for my needs and so, I needed to get a 24 inch. Maybe after getting used on the 24 inch for a while, I will feel the need for something bigger but I don't think it will happen any soon :)
 
Well I have a 20" now and kind of liked the idea of the extra real estate on the 24", plus it's widescreen. I realize the 30" is huge I was just thinking that for a couple hundred more, I could have 6" more. (Lol...now if it only were that easy with other things...lol....I could have had a different career!)
 
I'll hopefully be joingint the 24" club on saturday - if my current apple 20" screen sells for my reserve on ebay... it should do, but im getting paranoid.

its kinda funny when i first got my 2405 i was like, in amazement how frikin huge it was.. and now, i still love it, but its become "normal" and am used to the size... until on go on my other rig and use my old sony 19" CRT. omfg its so horrible, everything is blurry, colors get distorted/blurred on corners of the screen, etc.. the 2405 is a godsend, even if it does ghost in games, screw it theres too many good things about it to let that bother me :)
 
Welcome to the club. Absolutely love my 2405FPW. I'm posting on my old 17" BenQ on my Linux box and man I don't know how I ever used this thing for so long.

That pretty much sums up my feelings about the LCD as well. I love it despite the silly ghosting.
 
i dont have any ghosting on my 2405 that i can notice. the really funny thing about having a 24" is that you start to realize just how small other monitors really are. at first i was shocked at how huge this one seems. after using it for some time, i went back to use my 17" and felt cramped. even my brothers 19" viewsonic seems a bit small.
 
1920x1200 resolution is borderline, you can get away with no anti-aliasing. The 30"s resolutions are way too high for gaming.

Thanks a lot! I cannot wait to get this. The only trouble I am going to have is how to explain to my wife that I "need" this new monitor and the old 2001FP is just too small. LOL.
 
You and me both! I just got my 2405 last night. For $800 shipped off ebay I can't complain one bit. Going from a 15" viewable CRT that was so ancient the plastic had turned yellow, to 24" widescreen goodness... mmmmm gravy.

I heard about the new 2407 model a few days after I ordered this one, and I contemplated reselling this one or sending it back... but I am perfectly happy with this model. I played need for speed most wanted till 2am with a big grin on my face.

Now I just have to start saving for some monster of a video card...

yeah, the only reason I am upgrading my monitor right now is because I have a system that can handle the load of such a big panel and still run with all the candy on. My eye has been on this monitor since it became available, but only recently has the hardware come to fruition to make this an option for me.
 
I joined the club without paying any dues. :D Someone was nice enough to gift me one recently. That someone also gifted me a 2005fpw last year.
