its good to be here..
cant wait for winter to come now. get to oc all these bad boys and not worry about them overheating. they'll more or less help to keep me warm on these cold lonely nites... :D
 
I joined a few days ago too. Got 4 comps goin. My 2 at home (~5ghz) and 2 at work (3.8ghz). Growin in the ranks too :)

Who needs heat? Farms tend to do the trick... :D

now upto 4.43ghz.
hit a snag on this intel machine though, HT is enabled and the process is only running at 50% cpu usage... it wont get any higher. any thoughts how to fix this?
 
Yes. What you'll need to do is create another folding directory, separate from the one you already have. Then, start another instance of folding, but you'll need to give it a different machine ID number. So, one of your virtual processors will have machine id 1, and the other one will have machine id 2.

You can change that with the -config flag on the console version, but I don't remember how to do it in the graphical client off the top of my head.

if only windows2k supported dual xeons w/ HT... if anyone has a *free* copy of server2k or server2k3... ;)

i'd use xp (it supports 4cpus methinks) but i need to run this thing as a server too.. and xp isnt so great for that

not enough exp unix or linux :(
 
welcome aboard.. may as well post my intro as well. ive been lurking for a few weeks, crunched 56WU and 5268 points so far :D

right now i have 4 machines working on it, but will be taking it off my powerbook because i'm afraid it will start a fire..

i've also gotten one of my friends folding on his stack of unused computers :D its a disease.. maybe one day we'll fold out a cure :p

You're damn right about it being a disease. Its quite infectous too. But, thankfully, this disease cures other more harmful diseases, so I'll take the trade:

Yeah I went from Seti to F@H too, WU'sthey vary greatly in size so some are longer than others. Seems like the first one is always the longest. I use UD on most of my computers becouse of the smaller WU's.
