SO it is summer and I am working 50 hours a weeks, so I have figured out I will have enough money for new computer I want. The mod will be based off the lacrosse team I play for SJU lax. I go to St. Johns University in MN. So ya I can not say when I will start but I am doing some sketching and maybe a few photoshops of what it will be.

I plan on having it be a desktop computer so small, I am thinking like 120mm max tall. I will be using lacrosse balls that I have cut in half for case feet. I am still debating metal or plexi construction. If metal I have two options:
1. Brushed metal with a red candy over it.
2. Solid red paint (maybe a flake)
If plexi I would some how paint the inside of the plexi to give it a glossy finish.

I want to have a lacrosse shaft cut in half and going down the middle of the front of the case horizontally, and if possible have the very center section be a pull out handle, so that when put away it would look like just part of the shaft, but then you push it and it comes out for a handle (not sure how to do it yet, let me know if you have any ideas).

On the top center I will have a circular window with our "logo?" in it below is what the etch would be.

Also some where etched on the case would be our slogan Johnnie Red you know, I will have a picture so you understand more later.

I want to try and paint the johnnie rat on the back, and also have the SJU logo some where on the case.

All while keeping it clean, and of course cause well it is like my signature now, I will have either the St. Johns cross or the trinity sigh some where on the case.

Well on to the parts.

Here is what I am planning on putting in this thing:

Can you please explain how you will etch the patterns into the acrylic?
In this whole site, no one ever shares that knowledge on how to ETCH something...

Oh ya sure no worries. To etch your plexi, you first need your patern, then some flip it inverse and tape it to the side they want the etch to be on, so the backside of what will be out, or you can just pu the image on the opposite side of the plexi and etch while looking through plexi. You use your dremel and one of these bits http://www.dremel.com/en-us/attachments-and-accessories/attachment-accessory-category.htm?H=188537

it is simple, just takes a steady hand, and then if you put LED's around the edge of the plexi, just the image you etched will light up, and the deeper the etch the brighter the light

So I have been busy at work so I have not gotten much done. But what I have done is make the feet for the case, get RAM and the dvd burner in.

So cutting lacrosse balls in half was a bit hard, but then I figured that cutting them in half using a kitchen knife was easier then a saw. The only thing I still have to figure out is how to make them totaly flat.

I got the RAM in and took a few pictures then wasted no time putting it in my current computer since both my current set up and the nex one both use DDR 400.

I also got my Pioneer Slim slot load dvd burner in, it will go on the shelf for now, I really want to test it out, but I forgot to order an adaptor with it, but no rush I have many orders ahead of me.

I am now working with Sketch up so if I can figure it out I will try and post some pictures of that. I thought about for a while to use fiberglass for the shell but then I have desided to go with metal for the overall construction, with a plexiglass cover on the front. I have chossen to scratch the handle plan for two reasons, the main one being that I dont want to have any lines on the the shaft, I want a seamless line, the second being that with work I dont have time to figure out how to do it.

Bed time. Have a good night and a plesant tomorrow

CAMERA VOMIT!!!!!

I Love UPS, The goods:

Motherboard MSI K8nGM2

AMD X2 4400+

ATI 550 Pro

Western Digital 74Gb 10,000 RPM SATA Drive

Western Digital 500Gb SATA Drive

Aero cool 500w ZeroDBA PSU

OOOOO SHINY

Sound Blaster X-Fi

Is Creative in Boulder? cause they must be Hippies to package a card like this

There is Gold in them there hills

Ok we have all seen this

Time to open the Video card this should be a easy... right?

Ok just in this box

Ok maybe this box

OK I ORDERED A VIDEO CARD NOT A DANG RUSSIAN DOLL!!!

Finally (if Creative is conncerned with the enviroment they should talk to XFX)

Now to introduce the XFX to its new landlord, out with the loud and black ( not a racial comment) and in with the quite and shiny.

I cant figure out which one transfer heat better..:eyebrow:

And after surgery

So now I have all the parts but one.

I was orginaly going to build a case, but with working up to 65 hours a week and leaving for school in two week, and having to work on car, I jsut dont have time. My new case should be here in a few days. I am not telling what it is but the hint is: Ford has a car by its name.

I am going to try and get the mod complete by the time I leave for school but the computer is after car (cant drive a computer to MN) if it is not done I will finish it at school.

I now have two harddrives one at 120Gb and another with 300Gb In partition sizes:
120Gb Harddrive:
27.9 (windows install)
39 (mostly programs)
44.7 (mostly music)

300 Gb HDD:

139
139

How would I transfer the data to the new harddrives?
I dont want to have to reinstall every software and get all the settings just right again, is there a way of doing it?

And can I change partition sizes, they were good but now might not work as well.

Thank you.

if you have XP, File and Settings transfer wizard works well. You'll have to install each piece of software first.

Another thing to do is uninstall the hardware from your old disk (many ways to do this), clone the old drive to the new partition, boot to new disk and install new drivers

Ok so I have pictures of my new Antec Fusion case, I will upload them tomorrow.

The Mod has taken a change, I am now going with flat black paint, a white stripe with red pinstriping. When I get good enough I will add a design to the top and I or someone will paint a classic merc on the side. and I am not sure what else I want to do.

Here is the Fusion Case:

Front

Top

Side with exhaust

Inside

Stripped down

Silcon gromits on HDD mounts ( The rear feet are silcon too)

VFD

Thick Aluminum face

Test Fit

a bit tight and as you can see I will need to extend the hole for cables from PSU because of sound card.

Nice case.

Just wondering, how does the Aluminum plate attach to the frame?

Nine screws.

How do I change the title of the project?

I just ordered that Powercooler 550, let me know how it works out for you.

I need help.

I went to start transfering files from one HDD to another, so i plugged in the 500gb hdd, that means i now have three SATA HDD plugged into my Abit Max-3 motherboard. everything booted up fine, but the 500gb hdd didnt show up in windows disk manager. so i mess with the cmos settings for a bit and get no where,so i set it back to fail safe. I now get a disk error, press any key to re start. I try to re-install windows on both my current HDD and my new 74 gb hdd, and still disk error. WHAT DO I DO????
