Alright, I am curious what extra amount of cooling can be provided by purchasing a better heatsink than the stock one. Please do not flame this immediately, but read on, because my situation is unique.
Right now, my 1800+ JIUHB (Thoroughbred B) is running at 11x200 at 1.6 volts, and maxes out at 45°C after 22 hours of Prime95 on maximum-heat mode. The case is a desktop model (verry old pentium-100 case, although ATX), with 2 80mm intake and 2 80mm outtake fans -- the intakes are located directly over my video card (Gigabyte Radeon 9600XT) and directly over the CPU. I have no idea about their specs, but they push a reasonable amount of air.The heatsink-fan is stock, with Arctic Silver 5 added in the mix. The exhaust fans are located at the back of the case (one of which simply belongs to the PSU, but it still draws air out of the case).
Since I have thrown this extra air cooling on, I am wondering what temperature drops I might see if I were to purchase a Thermalright SLK-900A in place of the stock heatsink, and perhaps a silent 92mm fan in place of the stock fan. Any estimates?
