The Japanese will begin work on a network that they believe will replace the modern infrastructure of the internet with extremely efficient transfer speeds.

It will aim to develop and commercialise in around 2015 a network that can transfer data at 10 gigabits per second, 10 times faster than the next-generation network due to be launched in Japan this year, the report said.

& it'll still be all suck & no push. I've no problem even w/today's d/l speeds (Comcast). It's the u/l speeds that frost my cookies.

Why the average Joe still doesn't have 25mbps/2.5mbps is still beyond me.

Isn't internet 2 going live sometime next year and already 10gb/sec and 100gb/sec a year or two later?

i2 has been alive for years. It's a private network requiring big money to access, and mostly University and Research Center based. Still, it was good for DirectConnect Hubs inbetween uni's for a while till they shut those down.

ya seriously, i mean, why we have more than 640k ram still blows my mind, i mean seriously?

So why do most people still use 100mb networking?

What are the transfer speeds of a hard drive?
