Shacknews says that Jack Thompson, previously recommended for a 10 year disbarment from the Florida Bar, has talked his way into a permanent disbarment. It is truly a sad day….wait, no it isn’t! Bye Jack!

Thompson now has thirty days to close out his practice--in "the interests of existing clients." Adding to his problems, "no motion for rehearing will be considered unless signed by a member in good standing of The Florida Bar other than [Thompson]." That is, if Thompson wants to seek a retrial, he has to have another Bar member vouch for him--something no one has done in his current trial.

Come on Jack, don't leave us without an outrageously paranoid goodbye quote.

After having read may of his "filings" on GamePolitics and FindLaw, the only thing that I can say is that this could not have happened to a more deserving individual.

But it is still a bit of a sad day: where will we get those crazy, funny, paranoid, illogical, and abusive rants now? :) Maybe he'll start a blog. :D

like mr. bob said in the his 1st post in the link..."Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.":p

All I can say at this point is....

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Way to go Jack!

Thank you for making me one of the happiest people on the planet to day, I really hope you don;t enjoy your early (READ: Forced) retirement...... Dumb Ass!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I'd venture to say that he's already working out a deal for his new talk show on FOX, right now, as we speak.

This guy has cost the taxpayers of states that tried to pass these un-Constitutional laws quite a bit of money. He and the people that supported this kind of law, knowing full well that it was thrown out in other courts, should have to repay the public debt they created, especially since states are now running very low on cash. What a waste.

Why does everyone hate this guy so much? I don't recall this guy making in the national media. I know he's an activist on violence, video games etc but there are tons of activist out there.

I find it sickening that this site would decide to "celebrate" the destruction of a man's livelihood over the idle and shallow pleasures of video games.

He may be missing a brick, but you lot are throwing them.

Grow up a bit, no?

No, one man's livelihood is not worth loosing the 1st amendment over. Some things in this world mean more than a single person.

The destruction of this man's livelihood has nothing to do with video games. It has everything to do with his profiteering and insanely inappropriate behavior toward the courts. It didn't become a religious battle for him until it was clear that he was going to lose it. Then he jumped on the righteous indignation bandwagon to try to save his sinking ship.

He did it to himself.

Righteousness is a virtue, but I think this isn't the best time or place for it.

As opposed to the livelihood of all the game devs and other people he would have put out of business had his idiotic crusade actually worked? Grow up yourself, and get a brain while you're at it.

Again, a nice point.

Jack Thompson isn't a reasonable man. He has abused the court system and his own position as an attorney and now he will pay the price for it.

He calls video games "Cop killing simulators" and "Murder simulators".

Think about it. Jack Thompson was disbarred because other lawyers thought that his behavior was unethical. What does that tell you?

Need some updates to that Wiki page:

Occupation: NONE (or lunatic)

Page Title: Jack Thompson (ex-attorney)

He did this to himself by repeatedly going OVER BOARD. Its not like they just said, he we don't like what your ideas are. It was HIM doing childishly crazy stalker-like things, like sending letters to game exec's mothers, ignoring judge's orders, and basically acting crazy.

He just got further & further from reality thinking his cause was above the law.

If he had been more respectful and less CRAZY, he would still be filing petitions as an attorney.

But he continued to do crazy thing, one after another and pushed his luck with the law, and ultimately FAILED!

As someone else said... couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! ;) :p

QFT!

Damn it I hate the no-edit function...

Wanted to add one more rebuttal to Myg.... he was found GUILTY of 27 counts of misconduct.

27!

He didn't just do 1 or 2 or 3 stupid things. He did twenty-freakin-seven of them!!

Losing his bar membership won't keep his mouth shut. Nor does it stop him from practicing in other states.

If you get disbarred in one state you can't just pick up and apply to the bar of another state. Most likely the other states will see the disbarment and use that as grounds to deny your application to practice law in that state.

I don't know of a single state that would award him. The bar will look at your past records and dig that up and used it against you.

I mean, he could always move to Canada or something, lol
