Ivy Bridge , worth the wait ??

Here's the deal guys , I'm setting up a new build from scratch. My current laptop is getting old and slow so I can't wait to get my hands on a proper desktop. However with the release of Ivy Bridge being just around the corner I'm wondering if I should wait ? Otherwise I'm going to slap an i7 2600K in there sometime this week.

Here's a full list of the parts I want for the machine so you can get an idea of my price range and requirements. ( leaving out non important parts like CD/DVD player and such )

CPU Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4 Ghz Quad Core
GPU Geforce GTX-Ti 560 1024MB DDR5
RAM Corsair 1600MHz 8GB (2x4GB)
Case CoolerMaster HAF 932 Advanced
Motherboard Asus P8P67 Pro
Power Supply 750W Corsair HX750

if you can wait, wait. I don't think it'll be SUCH a huge upgrade though.

also id take a 2500k and a 570 instead.
 
I'd say wait. In addition to Ivy Bridge, you also will have a new generation of GPU's to pick from.
 
If your current rig is getting the job done then Id wait. If not and youre having trouble running the games or programs you want then I say might as well buy now. We're still talking about 3-4 months before IB drops and thats a long time to wait. You could build a SB now and likely have more than enough horsepower for your games or applications and then if you want you can upgrade a little later on down the road since IB will be backward compatible.
 
I agree with getting the 2500K equivalent of the IB, and using the $100 saved from that put towards a better GPU.

All in all, just wait the couple/few months for IB to release.
 
Thanks for the replies , I've been thinking along the same lines. Also when IB drops it's gonna be new technology and new technology is always expensive and sometimes incomplete. I'm going to go ahead and put together a i7 rig with thoughts to IB upgrades down the line =)
