Hi all,

So, I've been a bit removed from the hardware rumor mill lately. I'm currently rocking a dual Xeon E5 workstation, and my line of work necessitates the Tim the Tool-Man Taylor approach to computing: MORE POWER AUGH AUGH AUGH.

So, from what I've gathered, I will be able to throw away my old and busted Sandy Bridge-EP E5's somewhere in Q3, in anticipation of the new hotness that is the Ivy Bridge-EP E5 v2's.

Doesn't look like there's any real info out now, but- what do you all think the word is on chipset and motherboard compatibility? Has anyone seen info on specs for the new chips? Thanks!

They should be compatible with current LGA2011 systems with a bios update.

When I bought my asus Z9PE-D8 it stated on the asus web site that it would run ivy-EP with just a bios update. Worryingly that info has now disappeared.
