iTunes quit unexpectedly

Hey There

My Dad's computer got iTunes installed on it. I'm trying to figure out why when we go to launch iTunes it quits unexpectedly a few seconds after its opened. There is no error message and nothing shows up in the event viewer. This is on Windows XP Media Center edition. I un-installed and removed everything off the computer related to iTunes, saving the music. And tried reinstalling iTunes from a fresh download from Apple. The same thing happens.

Any ideas?

Have you tried looking at the event logs in the event viewer? You never know, there might be something there. My first guess would be that it's a conflict with another piece of software. My second guess is possible malware/spyware/badware/somekindofware infection; which goes back to my first guess anyway.

nothing would show up in the event viewer. any idea to what type of scanner i could run to find this infection if any?
