iTunes locking up a lot

Anyone having similar problems?

Having quite a bit of difficulty with iTunes. I have never used it before but I got my first apple product recently, a new touch 32gb. Quite often right after opening itunes just stops responding and I have to kill it in task manager and reopen it. Most of the time it only locks up when the ipod is actually connected to the computer but not always.

Generally it will work fine after a restart or three and the touch syncs successfully.

Win 7 x64 and using current iTunes x64 9.1.1.11.
 
I'm updating from 9.1.0.79 right now, I've had zero problems with that verson. I'll let you know once it's done updating to yours.
 
itunes is much more finicky for me on win7x64 than it ever was in xpx86...particularly with syncing...i think it still needs some ironing out. i'm on 9.1.0.79.

I updated and couldn't reproduce any crashes on W7 x64 either with or without a device attached.
 
A little more info. For a while I thought it was a cheap synch cable I got from monoprice but it behaves the same with the apple cable and another cable.

Really got down to messing with it trying to figure out what is wrong and I found out that itunes isn't locked up when it seems like it, if you unplug the ipod when it is locked up it will unlock and start responding again. Also once itunes is locked you can kill it and restart it and it will lock back up, it won't unlock even if killed until the ipod is disconnected.

It does this like a third of the time and will synch fine the other 2/3rds of the time.
