- Improved over the 970P is the contrast
- 1:1500 as apposed to the 1:1000
- Much improved with added inputs of USB and hidden DVI cable underneath.
- tweaked the hinge system that they used on the 970P

This is perfect for portrait mode web browsing, ebaying for many hours and a bit of photo shop editing with the 8bit panel.

I'm wondering if i should buy the Samsung 971p or Samsung 225BW.. I 'm having a hard time trying to decide which one to buy.

Judging from the review it seems the Samsung 971p has excellent image quality.
 
At first I didn't know what to think about the stand design..especially the blue led light bling, but then I saw the hidden DVI port and I like that. :cool:
 
Now just for a larger wide screen incarnation of this... thing looks sexy in black.
 
Is it true 1500:1 contrast or dynamic like the 931BF?

Samsung bring on a widescreen format with these specs, who makes 5:4's these days. :p

You and I are thinking the same way....a 20-22"ws model of that would have to go on the short-list of my next monitors to consider buying. I'm a sucker for looks :eek: (see sig)
 
I find that with the wider screens. you get less screen real estate from top to bottom,
So you end up having to do a lot more scrolling in documents and while web surfing.

I browse and read a lot so I like the normal 4:3 ratio.
And this monitor you can rotate 90 degrees with auto magic rotation.
so it's perfect for the web.

Gamers and people who like to watch movies a lot will like the wide screen
I understand this.
Programmers and writers and html designers will prefer the portrait view.
It's all subjective anyway. I like it, can't wait 'till it's released in my country.

Can't even see the base of the screen in this view and that's how I like it.

That Samsung 971p LCD monitor matches my PC Case.. The black Glossy-ness, and the blue lights.... And yes that samsung panel is truly 1500:1. I'm just waiting for a few more reviews to pop up.
 
If this thing came in a 20" widescreen at a decent price I would be all over it....the 19" 4:3 kills it for me.

Well, if you're referring to 19" vs. 20" WS, that's not exactly true, at least while not in portrait mode since the vertical resolution of the 19" is 1024 and of the 20" WS is 1050.

Well, actually, the 17" and 19" are of strange shape and they have 5:4 ratio. What you should be looking at is perhaps 20" or 21" 4:3 monitor with 1600*1200 resolution. They also support pivot.
