It's started, prices on 8800GTS 640 are dropping

let me just step in and say that my 8800gts 640mb spanks MANY video cards.

100+FPS in 90% of games with settings maxed.

EVGA is a standup company and they WILL process your rebate FAST. Mine was online in their system as accepted within 5 days after I mailed it!

OP's price isn't low. I bought my evga 8800gts Superclocked 640 back in late February or early March for about 350-370. Not much of a price drop.

But 315 is nice.

spanks the 320MB?

I'm just curious...does it really matter when I buy this card? If I do the Step-Up within 90 days, isn't the point moot since I'll be getting whatever I paid on this card applied to whatever I pay on that card?

That's true if eVGA has something on their site that you want to pay to step up to. Keep in mind that any card on eVGA's site will be full MSRP so it probably wouldn't be worthwhile to step up unless a new card is released or the retail prices are dropped within 90 days.

the xtx is cancelled most probly and will be replaced by r650 in Q3

there;s a 512 xt and the 1gb xt is on xs being benched like crazy.

Some of these guys are a little sore about spending $100 for 320MB of RAM

My LCD is 1280x1024, I bought the 320MB. Different strokes for different folks. You can't call buying a 320MB a poor purchasing decision if you save $100 and are able to play games at the same framerates as the 640MB version at your native resolution. I think they call that "buying the right hardware for the job."

Right. If your pushing 1900x1200, the 640 is much improved over the 320.

My thoughts exactly.

Depending of resolution I'd choose

1280x1024 - 1600x1200 8800GTS 320
1600x1200 - 1920x1200 8800gts 640
1920x1200 and above 8800GTX and ultra.
