Now here's the problem - the ambient at home is about 29.5C - i'm aware that Prescott CPU's run hot, very hot. Normally it idles around 48C in a 20C room. However, at home without AC, it idles at 52C and peaks at 64C.
Now I know its not a big issue, its still within Intel specs and its not throttling. However, the 9600XT AIW ram is burning hot, so hot that I can't hold my finger on it for more than a few seconds. Stock cooler. I know there is the Arctic-Cooling cooler for GPU's, but the only one that fits a 9600XT AIW is one that doesn't have ram-sinks.
Moreso, the power supply, i'm aware is on the no-no list, but it works fine for me. The lights are cool, but its quite loud. Can anyone recommend a power supply that can feed all the aboce components + 2 SATA seagate drives, and 2 optical drives and still have room for a basic watercooling setup while keeping quiet?
Now i'm tracing the airflow in the case, and the airflow seems poor. The low-speed quiet fans are really doing no good for a Prescott. There is also evidence that there is more exhaust than there is intake, meaning the inside of the case is slightly negative pressure. Any recommendations for fans that have good airflow, quiet, and clear\colored blue or red? Thinner is better because I have a fan filter on the front intake fan, and I need to put the grill on the front with the filter in place. However, I can take the filter off if needed.
Alright here is what I need help with.
1. I need a good cooler for my 9600XT AIW, with RAM cooling. Can anyone confirm a Arctic Cooling cooler that would also clear OCZ's ramsinks? Linkie
2. A cool-looking power supply that can handle my system, and provide enough power for a future basic watercooling system w/12v pump. Doesn't have to be bling bling, but has to be quiet and powerful. At least shiny aluminum please...need suggestions on this.
EDIT - Found the Ultra-X modular power supplies. Anyone using these? Are they quiet?
3. Two 120mm fans that are clear/colored, low profile, and push good air. A little noise is OK, but its better than the hairdryer noise when my CPU fan and the OTES fan throttle up. I'd rather have positive pressure inside the case than negative pressure. Any suggestions ons good ones?
4. Anyone know the specs (airflow\noise level) on the stock fans in the Antec Super LANboy case?
Considering all this and my nit-pickey-ness with complete silence, would I be better off with a basic liquid cooling system of about $280? I'm looking for options here...help me out
