Its definitely been a while since been out of the scene. Last time I OCed was a 1 gig Thunderbird to 1.4. Sweetness.

Anyhow, I'm looking to catch an interim solution to last me another year before a full system upgrade (hopefully when dual core cpus are in play). I currently have a 2400+ on a cheapo ECS motherboard (fry's deals) and a gig of pc2700 crucial ram.

Now my question is..should I just wait it out with the 2400 a little longer (would it be a diffference)..or should I just buy a 2400 mobile, new mb and try to OC the thing to 3ghz to last me another year?
Oh btw, would I need to upgrade my ram as well?

Any suggestions on parts is much appreciated. Really looking to spend about $250 max on mb, proc, hsf, ram (if needed). Very tight budget though.

(I'm assuming i'll need a new hsf/combo to OC.)

I really think you should stick with what you got. No way are you going to OC a mobile 2400+ to 3GHz. 2.5 and you got a pretty good overclock. I doubt it will go over 2.6 on air.

if the 2400 is tbredB, then just overclock it. sure you're behind the times a little, but dont worry about it. it can still pull some decent clocks.

just get a decent nforce2 mobo, clock it up a bit, and use that 2700 to your advantage.

nothing to it. :) if you want to throw money at something, throw it at a case ;)
