lately my wrist has been hurting me... i think i have carpeltunel...i dont need doctor tellin me heh...

was wonderin if there is a item i can purchase that maybe can soften the blow

yeah i ran to walmart and found something for about12 bux....its got like a metal shaft in it to keep my wrist in place...

Get a nice gel-pad. Check to see the angles of how you are resting your arm. For example, you should be resting most of your arm weight on your elbows via your chair arm rests...if you are putting your arm straight out and resting your whole arm on your wrist, it will probably keep hurting. If your chair doesn't have arm-rests, that might be a good addition. Ideally the mouse should be reachable while your elbow is on the armrest, like in a keyboard tray.

If that doesn't work well enough OR if you are getting numbness / tingling / muscle weakness in the hand, then make an appointment with someone who specializes in Active Release Techniques. It is a specialized soft tissue technique that is designed to break up scar tissue, restore normal range of motion, and it is amazing at dealing with compressive nerve injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Its also a popular technique with pro-athletes. Ususally an expert in this technique can fix your pains in a few visits.

Here's a link to the Active Release website...go to the find a provider section and then just put in your zip code to find someone in your area.

That's my 2 cents... ;)

one word my friend, Trackball

get yourself a trackball mouse and never have to move your wrist again... I swear by them :) and I game by them :)

my chari high is set such that the armrest is the exact same level as the mouse. with the razor mouse (move with your fingertips), it works very well.

Yes, you do need a doctor telling you, and you need to get diagnosed. It is not a laughing or kidding matter. Dont be a dumbass, get help before you spend two years in a splint and take alieve by the ton.

And they will cause carpel tunnel just as well, and in some respects worse. Get to a doctor.

Wrist pads actually made things worse for me. You might look into ergonomic mice, like this: VerticalMouse. Google for other models and designs.

You really should to take regular breaks from the keyboard and mouse, whether it's work, gaming or whatever. I think something like at least 5-10 minutes an hour is recommended.

If you actually had Carpel Tunnel you would know and you would not be purchasing a wrist rest to fix it. You'd be having minor surgery.

Actual Carpel Tunnel isn't something you get and don't realize it or "think you have". You will definately know when you have it and you would certainly get it looked at if the pain was as bad as actually having carpel tunnel is.

You may have RSI however.

support elbow, sit properly, educate yourself FIRST before EVER going to a trackball. that's like touching another man's arm...its just wrong!

I gotta disagree with that. Mainly because I am a doc who treats nerve injuries and I'd say 2/3'rds of the people that come into my office thinking they have carpal tunnel don't actually have it.

True carpal tunnel syndrome is compression of the median nerve specifically at the carpal tunnel. If its carpal tunnel it would present like numbness, tingling, and/or weakness of the thumb, pointer and middle fingers. Just 'pain at the wrist' isn't carpal tunnel.

Either way, the other guys are right...find an expert. Trust me, find at Active Release doc... you won't regret it.

A had RMS a while ago from not mousing correctly. I still do almost everything on the computer left handed now, but I can play games right handed without pain now that I changed my chair height a bit and keep my wrist straight and level.

however, browsing the internet left handed has become normal for me, and it puts the keyboard right in front of you, makes it easier to type :p

I don't have insurance btw and I've had pain around the bottoms of my wrist for about 10. When i started working with computers for a living is when it all started. If its not carpal and it feels like a nerve problem, what else could it be? Having insurance must be nice.

You disagreed with me, then went on to argue my point and agree with me?
