I don't get it, I have this Radeon 9800 XT that has given me nothing but problems since I got it.

At first, the cooler got to hot and the plastic things holding the heatsink on kind of literally melted, I shit you not. So that heatsink came off and fell onto my soundcard, luckily, it survived. So it took me a few hours to figure out that I was playing CS without a heatsink on and that would explain my uber shitty FPS. So I shut off the computer and bought a zalman 80C-HP. After a few months it held up, I could never OC worth shit and eventually the fan broke and case temperatures jumped sky high.

So I bought an ATI Silencer, I love it. Although I had to buy a ramsink becuase the ramsink from the ati silencer won't go on cause I got a refurbished model.

So Tonight, I decide to try volt modding. Joy. I tried 1 stroke, then 2 strokes, then 5 strokes. Alas, it still didn't die. So I decided, "its pissed me off enough, time to die." so placed as many strokes on as I could and decided it was time to fry. Instead, nothing happens... Its still working, the whole damn thing is colored yet my video card is still working? Why won't it die? I've tried everything to make it look like a natural death, i'd put a screw driver on it, magnets, paperclips, everything. IT STILL WORKS. WHY?

Please, give me a creative way to kill my 9800 XT, peace.
 
Or not. I want the pleasure of killing it. Its been such a hasslehoff for me and now I want it to suffer. Its just indured hardcore shock therapy and its still going strong.
 
Mod a Molex connector and run 12V over the 5V line. Another option is to flash a REALLY different BIOS onto it, like from a 9600 or even GeForce- or do you need dead hardware, not just store-exchangeable?
 
Take apart an old motherboard and hook the AGP slot directly up to a power outlet. Plugin card. Put out fire.

Ok, so I just moved those switches on the 9800 XT, and nothing happened. Its still working, lol. I thought they were like volt switches or something, but nothing has happened.

It sounds like you are trying to destroy it and then RMA it, if that is the case. I hope you find a creative way to kill yourself before you kill your card.

With all the problems he says he's had with it, I for one can forgive him.

Another possibility is that his parents (or wife, girlfriend, etc) said no upgrades until that computer dies, as my folks used to do.
 
Fuck no. I just want to kill it so I can go buy an X800XT VIVO. If I RMA'ed it then i'd give you guys permission to kill me.

I am just trying to kill it because its pissed me off for the last year and its memory modules suck shit balls. Besides, I can't RMA it, i've already voided warranty like hardcore, lol.

Take the card and put in an old ass computer that's worthless to you. Go to a remote gun range. Proceed to blast the shit outta that baby while improving your aim.
 
Thats too obvious. Note, I can't let my mom see any physical damage, lol. She said she'll pay for a new graphics card if I pay half, but its gotta be natural or non-physical. As long as she can't see, i'm good.
 
Post pictures of the highly modded card.

Then, remove the ram chips and replace them with SDRAM chips. (Unless its BGA ram.)
or
Cover half of the AGP contacts in AS5 and see what happens when you run the card :)
 
Ok ok, give me a few minutes to get pictures. I am not smearing the contacts in AS5 for reasons for the fact that I appreciate my motherboard because it doesn't give me lip.
 
Just hook it up to an AC plug in some way then plug the thing in. Or just get a soldering iron and melt off a capacitor or 12.

sorry,question: if u overclock it and take out the fan, i dont think will last more than 10 minutes :)
 
Put it in a junker box, plug it in, seal the case as best you can so that no heat escapes. Prior to sealing the case, pile ice cubes on the top of the card. Heat = melted water + video card = dead as dead gets.

If not just let me buy the Silencer off you (it will works right?)
 
I hope in your attempts to fry a very good card that you set fire to your whole rig. I would love to have that card but as I am a Parent of 3 I find that after looking after their needs-which as you have shown are many- I have little money left over for me - I suggest you go and jerk off instead,- you dont deserve what you got. :mad:

And for you nay-sayers, I can't sell it because the card is ALREADY DYING. I think i've stated that before. So I might as well have fun killing it. The parentals will only pay half for the new card, I gotta pay the rest. So shove it up your ass.

You're retarded, you know that? Its not for attention, its for the fact that I need a way to kill it without showing any PHYSICAL DAMAGE. If its dying already I might as well speed up its death by about a week. Its not gonna last me much longer because it already screws up enough.

I left it to find the max video core without using the fan, only a heatsink for the last 7 hours. It hit 91*C, didn't go any higher or lower. Its still working.
 
Don't sweat the little kids posting their bullshit. They're probably just jealous that your killing a 9800XT cause they still game on an old mx440, or fx5200 or some other pure shit card. I say have fun with it. And pictures of teh aftermath would be groovy.

I quite agree, whether the circumstances or not, with your mom, still posting something that would be better kept to yourself is only just an attempt at getting attention. In coming into the ATI forum and telling us you are trying to KILL a 9800XT, your asking for a flame. Its a subject that most people would think is ridiculous, as you can see from above.

If you want a more positive response go over to the nVidia flavor and post a thread with the title *KILLING A 9800XT, LET'S ALL CELEBRATE!!!*

Thanks for some encouragement, I am still open to ideas. AS5 won't kill it, electricity won't kill it, over volting the core and memory won't kill it. I don't get it. Shouldn't the card be dead???

If they know that you're trying to shorten its death, why cant there be apparent physical damage?
