iStar 1200 watt psu

http://www.istarusa.com/server_powe...tc-1200pd1.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

are these any good? didn't see any reviews for it online. the outside looks similar to the thermaltake 1.2kW psu. anyone?
iStarUSA is a "known good" brand, usually found in the server market with lower-end redundant PSU's, racks & chassis.

I have no experience with this specific PSU, however it "should" be good.

Like most companies some of their products are better than others, so no guarantees!

Here are some reviews of other iStarUSA PSU's: http://www.istarusa.com/company/reviews.aspx

Please post any reviews you find, as I am very interested to know more about this one.

Many Thanks,
Dave:)

Performance is probably similar if not identical to the 1200W Thermaltake Toughpower and Inwin Commander models.
Similar, but there can be large differences!

I was hoping Paul had some personal experience with this one as I do not.

I have yet to see any large differences between differently-branded PUC PSUs, wattage ratings aside. Although it's true that there can be differences in theory, in practice they're all pretty similar. Same thing with PSH units for the most part (aside from certain special cases like the TX850 which has a few tweaks to clean up the secondary rails).

I am running one for the rig below. No problems at all. Built a few servers for heavy data and CUDA processing(Dual 5440 Xeons, 8GB FBDIMM, Tyan 5393 motherboards, XFX 280GTX). They have run without a hiccup.

Although the one in your link is not the one I have.

I have this one:
iStarUSA TC-1200PD1

I even bought a spare when I initially ordered it, as I didn't know if they sucked.

That is the same model as the one linked in the original post. Look at the model numbers.

Look at the parts. Same model number, but different part. Great PSU none-the-less. Mine are heavy like a brick.

The casing looks different, but the internals appear to be the same based on what you can see through the grill.
