Issues with memory speed

Hey all.

Just grabbed a new ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard. It supports DDR400 speed on my memory, but when I've installed my memory sticks, they only run @ DDR333!

I'm not a tech guru by a long shot, but this is the memory I'm using:

¤ 4 x 512 MB TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM Dual Pack Kit

One pair is a bit newer than the other, but still essentially the same. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing the lower memory speed? Please help! :(

as far as i know that mobo sucks with memory. also if ur running a non rev-e cpu thats the best you're going to get. if you have a rev-e then the best you can get is ddr400 2t.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+, and the Revision is BH-E4. (according to CPU-Z)

So what could be wrong?

it's not really an issue as much as a design limitation that's hard to get around without a board tweaked to do so ;)

So that means I won't get around that limitation without clocking the memory by myself? Ah well, now I can sleep safely with knowing that it's "designed" to be like that. :p

Thanks for all your help!

hmm? memory controller limitation, not memory. it's integrated into the cpu on a64's ;)

you can get around this limitation by not using 4 sticks of ram. it's a loading issue more than anything, the memory controller has trouble driving that much ram.

Alright, now I know. :D MANY thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
