I recently received a 1900GT in a trade on here and I am having some issues and could use a bit of help. I have had a bit of artifacting since I got it but nothing bad at all. I was only playing some COD 1 and 2 on it as well as some WOW but it never had anything too bad for about 3 weeks. Then one day I went into to play some COD 1 and it let me play for about 3 minutes and then video froze up followed by the whole machine locking up. I would then reboot the machine and check and it said the Temps on the GPU were about 58c-65c. I took the stock cooler off and could tell someone had already done that once before and when I tool it off there was Acrtic Silver everywhere way too much applied. It was all over the actual core and then over some of the other stuff around it. Cleaned it up the best I could re-applied thermal paste the correct way and temps looked a little better but not much but it is doing the same thing. Now the machine runs fine when I am on the internet or my kids are playing flash games or anything like that. Do you think this is a Temp issue and might be fixed with a better cooling solution on the card? thanks in advance for any help. Card is running at stock speeds by the way.

Rest of the system specs are
ABIT IP35-E
C2D 6300 @stock
2gb Gen DDR2 667
Themaltake 430W powersupply

whats your amps on ur +12 on the power supply looks like you might be underpowerd i had that problem with my 1900gt and a logisys 500 wat but it only have 1 +12 rail at 17A witch sucks so i got a thermaltake power express 300wat witch is a seperate power supply for my graphics card

I ran a 1900GT in an Antec Aria case with it's proprietary PSU that has 18 amps on the 12v rail and never had a problem with 24/7 use and heavy gaming.

I wonder if the card has heat issues?

Thanks for the replies. It is definitely heat issues. I put in a new 500w coolmaster with 32a on the 12V and same thing. I then downloaded ATI Tray Tools and set the fan to step up speed as the GPU gets hotter and it fixed my issue. I have done some reading and everything says that the stock cooler on those is crap so I will probably try to find a cheap Zalman to throw on there and see if I can limp it out a few more months until I get a new one.
