Issues with 77.72 WHQL Drivers...

Ok... I am running a BFG6800GT OC (see sig)...

I had not updated drivers since 71.90, everything was working fine...

Saw there were new drivers (77.72), decided to go ahead and upgrade...

No problems in games, however...

Tried to play a video and found all my videos were washed out white... no matter what type (mpg, avi, wmv...ect) and whatever player I used (Wimp, Divxplayer, BSplayer, ect...)...

Figuring it was a codec issue, went and updated all codecs... still all washed out...

Went in and looked for any sort of problems... nothing came up... so I figured it had to be a driver issue...

Wiped out 77.72, cleaned the registry, deleted all Nvidia everything... reinstalled 77.72... still all washed out...

Re-downloaded 77.72 drivers... Wiped out 77.72, cleaned the registry, deleted all Nvidia everything... reinstalled 77.72... still all washed out...

Wiped out 77.72, cleaned the registry, deleted all Nvidia everything... reinstalled 71.90... all worked fine...

Wiped out 71.90, cleaned the registry, deleted all Nvidia everything... reinstalled 77.72... all washed out again...

Downloaded 77.50 Wiped out 77.72, cleaned the registry, deleted all Nvidia everything... reinstalled 77.50... all worked fine...



Something is not right with 77.72, I'm not sure what... but something is wrong...

Ok. You're the first person I've seen that didn't get that to work for them though.
 
Had the same problem with the additional problem that the video was washed out and flakey from my Hauppage Win TV tuner as well, back to 71.89 for now
 
The method posted above didnt work for me either (everytime I restarted my PC it would revert back to being messed up). This did though

What I did was goto the color correction menu, select overlay in the 1st box, and in the Color Profile box at the bottom pick advanced, click restore defaults, then save as and give the profile a name, this way you boot into the correect color configuration not the fucked up one.
 
When I upgraded to 77.72 Hl2 or CS:S did'nt work anymore. :mad: I think Nvidia is going crazy!

I just got an e-mail back from BFG (as I sent a copy of the earlier post to both them and NVidia)...

This is what they (BFG) said:

Yes the 77.72 driver does cause video to become unclear. Please goto www.guru3d.com and install the 77.50 driver to fix this problem.

NVidia on the other hand just sent me to their support page (via automated mail) and of course we all know how "helpful" that is...

Had the same issue with color when viewing video. Fixed using color correction. However if i watch video and then go into a game i get wrap around.
 
And I thought It was just me! Im partially glad to see that I am not the only one having this issue. I may go back to the last official driver(forgot the number), it worked fine!

I am not sure what you were linking to, but the above link goes to a forum post with the following info...

Ok I just recently did a full system reinstall. windows xp pro service pack 2.

When I play video games the graphics look perfectly fine. When I try to play video files or dvd's the quality is absolutely terrible. Dvd's look worse than VHS tapes. I dont know if there is maybe a certain codec pack you could recommend or possibly another solution?

Or maybe it is this Abit IC7-Max 3 motherboard that I have just gotten back from an RMA that is acting up. Maybe I should ReRMA it?

This same thing happen to me and I tried everything, so I just went back to 71.89 and I have 77.50 here if needed...

Go into the driver panel _> select Color Correction tab -> Apply Color Correction to "All" -> Restore Defaults.

Supposedly they have not only been tested, but to get the M$ WHQL certification, M$ *supposedly* have tested them on all platforms & with all types of cards...


Back when the WHQL certification came out, it was almost impossible to get, now it's handed out like candy at halloween..


... mmm ... candy....
