hey everyone,

i've been trying to oc my 3800+ am2, but i am not having very much success. i am able to get it up to 2600 mhz and run everything stable. the problem is, when restart/shutdown my computer and reboot it, sometimes the computer won't boot. also, when it does load windows, the oc doesn't seem to stay- meaning it will show the clock speed at 2000 mhz, which is strange because when i check bios, it shows i am at 2600 mhz.

another problem is i can't seem to accurately monitor my volts. cpu-z shows that on stock settings (default mobo setting) i am running at 1.168 voltls. and when i bring the volts to around 1.40 on the mobo, cpu-z will read at approximately 1.25.

and lastly, my idle/load temps seem to be higher than the norm. on stock clock speed, i am idling at around 38 C, and on 100% load around 58 C. my computer is not currently in a case right now, but it is on stock cooling.

here is my setup:
3800+ x2 am2
asus m2n-e
ocz gold ddr 667
7600gt

note: when at 2600mhz, according to cpu-z the volts are at around 1.41. also, i'm running at 3x while using a 10 multi with 260 fsb.

input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

have you looked up your stepping and see what others are getting? might just be dud chip also.
